I'm trying to use a nanoKONTROL2 MIDIcontroller with the tagtool.
I believe I managed to set up the MIDI control nodes for the sliders in the nodekit correctly: when I move a slider the values go up and down accordingly. So far so good.
But: this only works if I move the sliders ever so gently! The minute I move it somewhat more rapidly everything freezes up and the value gets stuck wherever it last was. After that nothing moves anymore and I have to restart completely.

Is there something I can do about this?
(I've tested this one two separate laptops, both had exactly the same problem.)

Thanks in advance :)

Gilliom,

Are these logarythmic faders- i tried to google it, but didn´t get the info. Anyway, it´s strange that you can slightly move it, but not quickly.

no clue.

Matthias,

I am no expert on this, and I couldn't really find this info somewhere either, but the values seem to go up and down linearly. Which is good, right?
If I move the fader slowly, it goes all the way up to 127 and back again, no problem. But do it fast and it freezes.

I've been googling around for possible answers or help as well, and while none of what I can find relates to the tagtool or the nanokontrol2 directly but to other MIDI devices, I did hear people speaking of "a USB problem" where there would be some kind of MIDI feedback or echo causing things to freeze in a similar way when a lot of info was sent (using a crossfader too fast, or scratching too fast) - I'm just clutching at straws here....

(I think I saw someone using the old model nanokontrol with the tagtool on a video, so it would be rather strange that the newer model would completely not work....)

I just found Richardo using it.

But you already might know, - maybe drop him a line.

I've managed to find a workaround for my MIDI problem. (I'm posting what I did in case someone else has the same problem...)

In trying to figure out where the problem was located (the controller? the tagtool?...) I hooked the controller up to some other stuff. First a synth program (which seemed to work) and later I found a little MIDI tester program called MIDI-OX which just returned the values of the knobs and sliders you fiddle with, and which did not freeze either. I concluded the Nanokontrol worked ok.

At that point I started up the tagtool again and to my surprise it suddenly worked perfectly! No freezing whatsoever, no matter how hard I turned knobs....

I shut everything down and started up again and.... it frooze again. What had happened? The first time, I had left that little MIDI-OX program running, and now I didn't. So I tried it again, first started MIDI-OX and the the Tagtool and lo and behold: no more freezing! As long as I keep that little tester-program running in the background, there is no more problem. Why is that? I have no idea :) If all this gives someone an idea what happened and how to explain this I would be very interested to hear it.

In any case: everything works fine now. Happily tagtoolin' away... :)

Hey guys is this tool to let you control color using a midi controller?  I saw ricardo's video and I was hoping to get help in setting this up for myself.  Who could I talk to?  I'm willing to pay for services.

It is not all that hard, actually (except for the problem mentioned above I ran in to, but eventually got solved)
If you run into problems, don't hesitate to ask. I hope I can help....

I'm working with Masterchief Shoemaker on this, Gilliom.

I just installed nodekit and the drivers for my midi controller, but I am at a loss as far as how to set this up.  I want to do things like.... have masterchief draw a long on his ipad and have it draw down the cutoff frequency of the music i'm playing, have the knobs on my controller (axiom 25 and NI maschine) control the thickness and hue of his lines as he draws.

Where do I start?

My midi controllers are already recognized by nodekit and they display value changes from 1-127 as they should with the correct CC #'s, but how do I route those numbers through actions on the ipad and vice versa?

I'm sorry people. I have zero experience with the ipad, only worked with the oldschool tagtool. What you are trying to accomplish sounds great, but I have no idea how to do it (nor if it is even possible). I hope you manage to pull it off, tho'. Please keep us informed if you do -would love to see this working.

My question is the same of rcrowthe's - can you answer it?
