Good afternoon,

I am starting a research group at Memorial University of Newfoundland focused on Life-Science Pedagogy, and I presently have several graduate student positions available: https://amytoddmun.wixsite.com/life-science-pedagog/blank-6

While situated in the Department of Biochemistry, my research is unique in that I study how we learn, and how we teach life-sciences in Higher Education. This ranges from researching teaching in face-to-face classes, online courses, or laboratory education. My particular interest is in long-term retention and application (e.g., what allows students to carry knowledge forward into new courses and/or careers), but there are many intersections with metacognition (thinking strategies, how we feel about learning), teaching approaches, and the accessibility of education (inclusion, equity, diversity). I am also open, in some cases, to exploring the impact of health and nutrition on learning, but that is dependent on the background and goals of the potential graduate student.
