Good morning.  The school year has begun and the challenges are real, from local to global struggles. In this email find three ways to build community, sharpen skills and strengthen organizing power.  Join us.

1.  Global Solidarity & Liberation Teach In, Saturday, October 11:

Join Philly Educators for Palestine at a teach in focused on anti-colonial, anti-racist struggles and the ways that all of our liberation is intertwined. Participants will select from a variety of small group sessions covering topics such as Sudan, Congo, Haiti, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, land back for Indigenous Americans, and police occupation of Black communities in the US, then have time in the afternoon to collaboratively plan lessons based on what they learn. As we approach the second anniversary of Israel's genocide in Gaza and observe Indigenous People's Day here on Turtle Island, our solidarity is more vital than ever.

2.  Stand Up for Philly Schools, Tuesday, Sept. 30 & Campaign Listserv
Are you concerned about school closings, forced co-locations, overcrowding or dangerous building conditions? Join Stand Up for Philly Schools and fight back! Over 50 people turned out to the campaign launch in early September and now we're building the campaign to hold the school district accountable. If you are ready to join the fight or just want more information:
3. Join TAG Leadership (Complete interest form by Sept. 30)

We are in a period of recruiting people to participate in TAG's leadership.
To learn more about what this involves, read here.

Please complete this brief form to express your interest by September 30.

We are also asking for people who care about TAG's work but have less capacity for active leadership to consider being part of an informal advisory group.  Please complete this brief form to express your interest by Sept. 30.

In solidarity,
TAG

Shanah Tovah to those who celebrate, and a restful day off for all.

Below, find reminders about upcoming ways to connect this fall.  We've added a call for parents and caregivers that we hope you will share with families at your schools, or attend yourself if you're also a caregiver.

In this political context, it is critical to practice solidarity.  Consider these words from Stacy Davis Gates, president of the Chicago Teachers Union:

"So let me be clear about what solidarity is and the power it holds. Solidarity is the antidote to white supremacy. Solidarity is the antidote to anti-immigrant fear. Solidarity is the antidote to homophobia and transphobia. Solidarity is the antidote of people not having and still needing. Solidarity is what reunites us. Solidarity is what keeps us. Solidarity is what supports us. Solidarity breaks down the lines of race, of gender, of age. Solidarity is our country’s safest space."  We hope to see you this fall!
