Good morning. What does education justice look like in Philadelphia in the conditions of this moment? How do we as educators work towards justice in our classrooms? How do we as workers and community members organize for justice outside of our classrooms?
At our conference on April 18, we'll be hearing from members of Lift Every Voice Philly about parent organizing that won passage of a historic wellness policy. We'll be hearing from Stand Up for Philly Schools (SUPS) members about work to fight school closures. We'll be hearing from educators who have been organizing immigrant justice trainings to ensure all schools are prepared to resist ICE.
Our workshops will push you to think about what justice looks like in your classroom, sharpening your pedagogy and deepening your content knowledge. You'll talk with other educators over lunch, and build connections that will sustain and grow our collective work.
This is a free conference by and for educators. Lunch and childcare provided. Join us.
What is the conference? The TAG conference is an opportunity for educators to build our community, to share and learn from each other's justice-oriented work, and to deepen our capacity for organizing. In this moment of converging political crises, we know we need all hands on deck to organize to defend public schools in Philadelphia, and justice for young people and their families in their schools and communities.
Who is the conference for? Education for Liberation is for educators and allies -- families, students, community members -- who are invested in and care about the conditions of our school system and the rights and liberation of everyone inside it!
When is the conference? Saturday, April 18, 2026, 9am-2pm
Where is the conference? Calvary Community Center (4740 Baltimore Ave)

It's the time of year to start thinking about what we want to read with others this summer to strengthen our liberatory pedagogies and grow our organizing power. The Summer Reading Series gives educators, parents, and community members an opportunity to meet throughout the city to talk about books, education, and social justice. Please fill out this form to nominate books and let us know if you'd like to co-facilitate a group!
