What's Going On: The State of Our Schools, Our Students, and Our Selves

What's happening in schools sheds light on what's happening in our society, and teachers have a unique and vital perspective on this, so our collective voices ought to be heard. The goal of the workshop is for each teacher participant to produce a piece of work they are proud to share, and if possible, to seek publication in a local or national outlet.

The workshop will meet monthly via zoom for a total of four 90-minute sessions (February, March, April, and May 2026), each focusing on a different stage of the writing process. Additionally, each participant will be paired with a writing partner from within the group, with whom you will meet between sessions (for a total of three hourlong one-on-one meetings).

This workshop will be facilitated by Nataliya Braginsky, a Philly high school History and English teacher who has published education-related pieces in
Rethinking Schools, In These Times, and the Law and Political Economy Project
