Good morning.
Anxiety and fear. Drops in attendance. Looming threats of deportations that will impact children and their families. These reports are already having effects in schools.
Our response? We are organizing to Build Sanctuary Schools. Tonight we'll hear from Chicago teacher Evelyn Gonzalez quoted in this NPR news story. We'll hear from two local educators and two local immigrant rights organizations who are doing inspiring work. And we'll talk with each other to strategize and create action plans.
As one participant who RSVPd said, this event is about "solidarity and an action plan."
TAG Philadelphia works to strengthen the influence of educators within schools and over policy decisions.
