Connector Trail Mapping - Jan. 21

Greetings,

This a a short report on our efforts to finalize and map the proposed route that connects Backwoods Road from near the proposed parking area to the main road that leads to the pond in order to create a loop route from the parking area.  

We had a good crew, consisting of Eve, Martin, Joshua, Gary, Peggy, Judy and me that weaved through the forest to find the least disruptive and most scenic trail possible.  We changed the starting point off the main trail to be a little further up the trail from our first attempt in order to avoid sensitive vegetation around the small field and to make the first stream crossing more manageable. 

I have attached some photos and a screen shot of the  newly mapped trail. The tracks that Judy and I made have been uploaded onto the Google Drive.  

For the first stream crossing we picked a spot that has fairly level approaches and can be easily bridged (is that a word?) with a couple of sturdy logs - plenty of which are available near by.  The second stream is more like ditch that could be crossed either be a short bridge or a short hop.  We all agreed that we need to inspect them in the Spring to see what they look like with snow melt.
