Hi all!
With the Community Forest opening day fast approaching, the public lands team is hoping to get out to the site for a couple of workdays this month to prepare for the busy season ahead. Please save these days on your calendars--if you have the capacity to join us for one or both dates, we'd love to see you there!
On April 15th, we'll be constructing a small prefab shed near the tree planting area. We'll plan to be onsite from 10am-2pm; I'm hoping the shed will be a quick project, and we can spend any extra time exploring the property or maintaining the deer fence.
On April 24th, from 2pm-6pm, we'll be at the tree planting area again to monitor the condition of the deer exclosure fence, repair the fence as-needed, assess the regrowth of native and invasive species in the tree planting, and weed the areas near the seedlings. The Kite's Nest Regen Team from Hudson will be onsite from around 4:30 to plant trees in commemoration of Arbor Day; we'll have a chance to share with the Kite's Nest folks about our projects and goals for TCF and work together on some much-needed early season maintenance done in the forest restoration area!
Wishing everyone the best as we enter a new season. Thank you all for your ongoing dedication to the community forest!
