Info about me/my library:
~200 GB of music on a 0.5TB USB Drive
Much of my music is untagged or poorly tagged, poorly sorted, etc.
Some of my music had its tags/filenames ruined by iTunes "sorting."
Operating System: Windows 7
Zeroth attempt - oops, itunes wasn't open. Let's fix that.
First attempt to open Tagalicious after installing it pops up a window
asking me to register/buy the program and becomes unresponsive. After
a couple minutes it closed (I'm not even sure I told it to close.)
Second attempt, pops up same register/buy window. Busy mouse icon
over both the main Tagalicious window & the Register/buy now popup
(which is way up in the top right of the screen - awkward placement
IMO.) Busy icon still there after several minutes.
Ah, now it has my music library after ~3 minutes. During the time
while it was apparently loading my music, I couldn't do anything
(include click register or buy)
OK, program running. Bit confused about its interaction with certain
songs that I have duplicates of.
Example:
Copy #1 Madonna - What It Feels Like for a Girl - Original tags are
correct, new tags it REMOVES the album name/year, with no offered
replacement. Title, artist, and album art (added with new tags) are
correct with new tags
Copy #2 Madonna - What It Feels Like for a Girl - Original tags are
correct, new tags are also correct
In the side bar, where it shows Original Tag/New Tag info, there
appears to be no way to read the full text of a field which extends
past the width of the textbox/label provided: Example
for They Might Be Giants songs, I can only see:
They Might Be...
I see no way to see the full text via mouseover, selection, or making
the box larger.
I'm a little irked that it uses up tracks that I've "looked up" even
if I don't send any tag info to itunes. Anything that I click on uses
up a track! Oh well, trials a trial.
Successfully updated a poorly tagged version of They Might Be Giants -
Particle Man
Primary objective of program is pretty successful.
Successfully identified and tagged track01.cdda (I have a lot of these
types of things...) into Crystal Method -Trip Like I Do
Definitely successful.
Finally, my computer is pretty good but scrolling through the songs is
particularly slow. It isn't slow in itunes at the same time. It's a
bit better in details view than album art, I think, but still slow.
And even tabbing into/out of the program is slow when the program is
"thinking" about tags for a newly selected song. Is there a way to
keep the interface working when performing that task?
I'm afraid to try this out with my library on my Windows XP Laptop -
even though I know you guys want info about systems like that.
Anything else you want me to check out?
