Grar.

Beta 15, which should fix the problem where you can't switch groups:
http://files.thelittleappfactory.com/tagalicious/Tagalicious-1.1b15.zip

Please note that you'll have to delete your database.sql file.
Again. If this is the release version of Tagalicious 1.1, you won't
have to do that again.

*IF* you are having persistent crashing problems (but ONLY if you've
tested beta 15 and are having crashing problems), please download and
use this version instead: http://files.thelittleappfactory.com/tagalicious/Tagalicious-1.1b15-modified.zip
. When you submit crash reports using this version, please type in
"using modified beta 15" somewhere into the crash report comments.

Simone,

This version looks great. Thumbs up. Good 1.1 candidate.

I will get back to our other conversation about future suggestions
later. I have not had a ton of time to put together a reply.

Thank you,
Russ

Simone,

I have just tried the latest beta briefly and here are my individual
concerns. I am getting the red exclamation point for all of the songs
which an earlier beta renamed "msng". I will go through and tag these
manually now, but I had hoped this would find the info for these
songs. So far it hasn't crashed for me, but it also hasn't found any
new tags for me, it's finding tags I already have but thats about it.
I will continue to test it and submit any crashes that occur. Thanks
for your time.

Hey Joel --

Thanks for the note. "msng" is short for "missing", which means that
the beta that was causing those problems was trying to send a non-
existent tag to iTunes. That means that it didn't really find any
tags whenever it transferred "msng" over to your songs in iTunes.
They should have been left blank, as the current beta of Tagalicious
does. (I don't think that previous beta should have overwritten any
existing tags in iTunes, either, but I'm not 100% sure about that.)

Can you try the release version of Tagalicious 1.0.1 (
http://files.thelittleappfactory.com/tagalicious/Tagalicious.zip ) and
see if it finds tags for those songs? If it does, then there's
something wrong. If it, too, doesn't find any tags, then the current
beta is correct.

The "msng" tags can easily be cleared out of iTunes since they are
blank anyway. Just switch to your music library, sort by each tag in
turn (Name, Album, Artist, Genre), select all of the songs with "msng"
as the tag, get info on them all, delete "msng" from the appropriate
field, and then click OK. You'll have to do this four times (once for
each tag), but it shouldn't take too long.

Joel:

Err, to clear out the "msng" tags, you need to switch to iTunes to do
the batch editing (and follow the instructions in my previous e-
mail). You can't do that directly in Tagalicious.

Beta 15 works for me, it does not crash like 14 did.

However...
When i tag songs that are part of a compilation the artists gets mixed up.
songs that was tagged correctly in previous versions now get the wrong artist, often all of the songs in the compilation/collection (don't know the correct word) get the same artist.

Hi Anna --

Yeah, this is a "feature" that was intended to clean up some of the
inconsistent data from the database of song info that we use -- most
of the time, it's standard albums (same artist, same release year)
that get slightly different tags, which is annoying. I didn't realize
that it unintentionally swept up some compilations into the mix.

Unfortunately, this fix will have to wait for 1.1.1, because we're
ready to release 1.1.

However, thanks for the report, I can reproduce this problem on one of
my compilations. I'll be sure to fix this for 1.1.1.

Joel:

One more note -- if you try Tagalicious 1.0.1 and then open
Tagalicious 1.1 again, Tagalicious 1.1 will appear to fail to load
your library. To fix this, just delete your Tagalicious preferences
file (located at ~/Library/Preferences/
com.thelittleappfactory.Tagalicious.plist), or (if you know how) you
can just delete the key in there named
AFDeleteSortDescriptorsOnFirstLaunch.

(This problem only occurs if you use 1.1, use 1.0.1, and then try to
use 1.1 again. If you've only ever used 1.0.1 and then update to 1.1,
everything will work fine.)

Hey all --

I plan to release this beta as 1.1 final on Friday if I don't hear of
any major bugs from anyone. Do test, and let me know!
