A beta version of the upcoming 0.2.4 has been released for Linux and
Windows (Mac binaries coming soon). Despite of the "beta" label, it
should be safe to use by regular users. The features set includes
everything that was planned for 0.2.4. Some shaping still needs to be
done, but the purpose of this release is to get some feedback and
confirmations that everything works as expected.

If you are interested in trying the future next release and don't mind
encountering a couple of rough edges, please download this release,
give it a try, and give some feedback here!

It works perfectly for me on Debian sid using your PPA. This version
adds a lot of nice features and I've not encountered serious bugs so
far. Your soft is rock stable, congratulation :)

There is just on small annoying thing that I liked better in the
0.2.3 version, about the new layout of the reading practice. I
personally find that the translation makes it too easy to read the
word (I can usually guess the word from the translation) and it thus
lose quite a lot of interest. Is it possible to make it optional?
Anyway, that's just a small remark... your soft is absolutely
wonderful!

Actually I know of at least one way to make it crash, but I'll try to keep it secret until that part of the code is rewritten for 0.3. ;)

Good to know the Ubuntu packages also work on Debian. If only launchpad provided a way to produce real Debian packages...

Indeed, I think that makes sense. I first thought that if you want to guess both meaning and reading you can just do regular flashcards with furiganas disabled, but the reading trainer may make sense too. I have added a checkbox in the reading trainer window to disable showing the meaning - in which case it reverts to the 0.2.3 behavior.

Thanks again, that really helps me making sure things will be ok for the "stable" release.

Alex.

Let's see if I can discover the surprise :)

Wow, that was fast, thank you. It's exactly what I was expecting.
Be careful, you're encouraging me to come with a bunch of feature
requests then.

I just noticed one small glitch. After answering a question when "show
meaning" is not checked, the vocabulary entry is displayed to the
user. However, when you check the box then again uncheck it, the last
answered vocabulary entry has disappeared. In practice, I don't really
mind because I will leave the box unchecked, but it would be nice to
display the last vocabulary entry instead of a white page.

Who knows, I may be doing that on purpose! ;)

That would require to keep track of the previous entry - which I did
not find useful for that sole purpose. Indeed, are users really going
to tick/untick the "show meaning" checkbox all the time?
