Hello! I recently purchased the galaxy tab s6 lite and while waiting for it to be delivered, have been looking into different art apps. I don't mind a small price but none of the review websites really mentions the cost of some of these apps. Just says a vague 'with in app purchase'. I want to know before choosing. I don't like the idea of a monthly subscription so I'm looking for something either free or I can just purchase it a single time.
I have been thinking about getting an iPad for a while to learn digital art, and was just gifted an older generation iPad 4, which i know is confined to iOS 10.3.3. I'm looking for apps i would be able to use to try my hand at it. I am also aware that I can't use Apple pencil but am looking into alternatives.
I have two apps I use for drawing on my iPad: Procreate and Concepts. Even though they're both drawing apps, they're fundamentally different from each other and, consequently, excel in different ways.
When it comes to drawing digitally, raster-based apps are most similar to drawing with traditional media. Imagine using a pencil to draw a circle on a sheet of paper. The circle is now a permanent part of that paper; the only way to change how it looks is to erase it and drawing a new line, or cover over it with some other media.
This editability is one of the biggest advantages to drawing in a vector-based app. Every line drawn is selectable and can be pushed, pulled, skewed, scaled, rotated, or flipped in any way you like. This flexibility is amazing, and definitely has its uses, but it's not quite as close to the feel of using real media as you get when drawing with a raster app.

Pros: Adobe Draw is very simple to work with, and visually very clean, which allows you to focus on the drawing, not the app. It can import and export many image types, and works with vector images, so it has extremely sharp quality, even when zoomed in very close. This is great for working with the My Body Model images that have more than 4 forms to a page. Layers are great for adding depth to the drawings, or playing with mixing and matching garment pieces.
Cons: As with Adobe Draw, this app also has very few brush types available, and again I found that I really only liked using two or three of them to create the My Body Model sketches. I found that I enjoyed drawing sketches more in Adobe Sketch with the pencil, but I enjoyed the Adobe Draw app more for coloring the designs.
MediBang Paint has one of the busier user screens, because it packs a lot of functionality into app. It feels like a full digital art program for the iPad, and not just a part of a larger suite of tools as do the Adobe apps.

The answer so depends on what you want to do. I have a long history in drawing straight lines to make things, but when it comes to any sort of free hand drawing I am hopeless.
