Intouch Redundancy

I have a system who is built up with 400H and Intouch HMI (two IO servers, two physical computers).

I have some problem with the redundancy, if I`m diconnect the ethernet cable on master CPU intouch switch over and start pooling data from the other CPU on the 400H system, but the challenge is if I set the CPU to stop then the intouch dont switch over...

Care needs to be taken that the different hats worn as a director and an employee are considered. This can mean that if you have already accepted a job elsewhere then it would be difficult to consider yourself as having been made redundant. You also need to consider how practically the company will be run if you are no longer working or as a director. If you continue to act then your termination is not real.

Most contractors do not have a contract of employment, but that does not mean payments are automatically non contractual, and the absence of the contract means that consideration should be given to the facts of what has happened in the past.

Non-contractual payments for redundancy and compensation for loss of office (as a director) should be considered against the background of your salary, the position held and the period of time you have been with your company. The amount of any payment must take into account these factors and you will not automatically be entitled to claim the full 30,000 tax free amount.

You should also remember that claiming the tax free termination payment is made through your personal tax return and this may also be challenged by HMRC. The likely outcome of the enquiry will depend on the facts.

So, in conclusion, yes you should consider whether as a director / employee you are entitled to be paid redundancy. Always make sure the payment is fully documented, alongside the facts considered, and that the amount is reasonable and reflects those facts. But also be aware that the amount can be challenged by HMRC.

Similarly to many organisations within the charity sector, they are having to come up with ways of cutting costs in order to maintain current levels of service provision. Their staff have been told that redundancies are a possibility for many. Guide Dogs' CEO Andrew Lennox tells In Touch what is happening and why, in his view, such cuts are necessary.

But first, the 24thApril was International Guide Dogs Day, a cause for celebration you might havethought but almost certainly not at the UK organisation of Guide Dogs itselfwhere the staff were mulling over a message from their Chief Executive whichsignalled a need for radical change and for some that might involve redundancy.

Like so many other charities across the UK we are operating in anextremely difficult climate with soaring fixed costs and a high demand for ourservices. We have a plan for both andthis will mean we can protect Guide Dogs financial future and we will bestructured so we can adapt to future external challenges.

But I mean let meput it to you bluntly, a 20 million gap in 2026 between income and what youneed to maintain the current level of service is a very big gap, particularlywhen with major issues like waiting lists lengths people were hoping to see animprovement in services. I mean what isthe answer?

Losing a job istough for anyone, for visually impaired people getting another job, as all thestatistics will tell us, is even harder. Will you be taking this into consideration when deciding what jobsshould go because some already think that the proportion of visual impairedpeople within the organisation is too low, far from making it lower?

Any "best practices" method for ensuring operational integrity should include the consideration of redundancy in the event that critical software or hardware fails. WIN-911 should be considered a mission-critical part of your operational nucleus and therefore have a plan for emergency situations where WIN-911 is no longer able to dispatch alarm events.

WIN-911 does not currently have redundancy logic that is able to determine the need for and/or execute a failover. But it does provide the system administrator with tools that can be used by third-party software to evaluate the health of WIN-911 and perform a failover when such a need should arise. These tools can provide information about the state of WIN-911 and change the operational mode of WIN-911 from Standby to Active or Active to Standby.
