3DCAD, or three-dimensional computer-aided design, is technology for design and technical documentation, which replaces manual drafting with an automated process. Used by architects, engineers, and other professionals, 3D CAD software precisely represents and visualizes objects using a collection of points in three dimensions on the computer. Autodesk has a broad portfolio of 3D CAD software programs for drawing and modeling to help people explore and share ideas, visualize concepts, and simulate how designs will perform before they are made.

One Click Metal is an additive manufacturing startup developing a low-cost metal 3D printer. Not only did they decide to use Fusion 360 to make their dream and design a reality, they also decided to integrate the machine and its processes into Eagle.

Two Canadian companies help medical facilities meet surge capacity quickly. Falkbuilt-Sprung partners with Autodesk experts to design and manufacture emergency facilities to help treat the overwhelming surge in COVID-19 cases.

3D CAD software allows the user to include precise dimensions in their drawings. When designing in 3D CAD, it is also much more efficient to make updates to a drawing and it streamlines the file sharing process.

3D CAD software is used by many different professions including architects, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, interior designers, civil engineers, landscape architects, industrial designers, P&ID designers, plant engineers, piping designers, MEP engineers, surveyors, urban planners, and GIS specialists.

The AutoCAD web app is an online CAD program and it is included when you subscribe to AutoCAD or AutoCAD LT. It allows you to work remotely and collaborate with colleagues with AutoCAD in the internet browser on your computer. In addition, AutoCAD, AutoCAD LT, and the AutoCAD web and mobile apps offer connected workflows through leading cloud storage providers including Box, Google Drive, OneDrive, and Dropbox. The cloud storage integrations enable you to store your DWG files where you want and work in AutoCAD anytime, anywhere.

Yes, Autodesk offers 3D CAD certifications for products including AutoCAD, Fusion 360, Inventor, and Revit. For a full list of products available for certification and details on certification, visit Autodesk Certification.

I am working with a very large and detailed 3D solid model of a 5 story process facility complete with equipment, ducting, spouting, etc., that has been developed and revised several times over several years. Each and every time I open the model, save the model or generate ortho drawing from the model I get the following message: "Modeling Operation Error: Error Code Number is 93004".

My question is: How or where would someone start to pinpoint what is specifically causing the "modeling operation error" in such a large model so it can be corrected? Note that this model is extremely large in file size with a lot of detail.

Quartering search: copy the file twice, erase half the content in each. If only one file has the problem, split it in half. Continue chopping the files in half until you find the culprit, should be 8 - 10 times at most.

Shouldn't really have everything in one file anyways. As you've seen it makes life difficult. Also look into reducing the amount of detail, that will reduce the risk of problems like this while keeping file sizes small.

Unfortunately I don't think you will find an "easy button" for this one. I've had to update or use client provided models that would crash constantly when trying to xref or use them for ortho generation. Finding the issue can be time consuming and usually comes down to a corrupted object in the 3D model.

Is this a "master" model that uses multiple xrefs? If so try detaching them one by one to see if the error is coming from a specific xref'd model. Once you know which is the offending model you can start investigating that model for troublesome objects. This involves deleting objects from a layer, layer by layer to isolate the issue. Then object by object. Make sure you create copies of everything and keep the originals for backup. Run the PURGE command and purge everything. Run -PU command and select Regapps and purge all registered apps. Then run the AUDIT command.

You should try parsing the model down to separate models of a more manageable area (and file size) in a logical way. Maybe by floor since you say it is a 5 story building and by system; piping, electrical, structural, civil etc.

Once you have your areas see if a specific area model gives the error and crashes. If it is only one area then you know that there is something in that area model you have to find and purge. Go layer by layer deleting the objects and saving and checking if that resolves the issue.

You may want to ask yourself or the PM if you want to spend the time on this game. If it is a client provided model and you can't use it, they need to fix the problem on their dime. If it is your model, it may be cheaper and quicker to redraw/remodel the areas you need to create your ortho drawings and deal with it later. Just my 2 cents.

I've always used AutoCAD out the box to model some pretty sophisticated as well as simple items. I've worked AutoCAD since 1989. I've never ever received so many modeling errors. below are just a few I captured and copied to a log, just today. I"ve provided the error and the command it failed in and the text therein.

Are you using 3D solid models created in prior versions in AutoCAD 2018? If so, my guess is that the updated ASM modeler that we introduced in AutoCAD 2018 is catching additional data errors that were previously overlooked (but will bite you later). Error messages are displayed for errors that the newest ASM can't fix.

anyway, I attempted to put a 1/2x45deg chamfer on the bottom outboard side of the part. first off, I drew half, did my extrusions and subtractions then mirrored it. then unioned it. cleaned it. checked it for "This object is a valid ShapeManager solid.".

1. if the mtext text box is used to change the text justification, the next time the drawing is opened, the text no longer has the justification chosen in the mtext editor. it doesn't stick. I have to change mtext justification in the Properties. always. Now given that the justification in the properties has 9 options and the mtext editor only 3 plus the spread, maybe I;'m missing something here.
