Tac Rifle matches generally run in the morning and end in the early
afternoon. Set up occurs the day before. Action22 matches are set up
the morning of the event and are shot in the afternoon.

Here is the question: Should we have afternoon starts for TR? It would
mean less travelling for volunteers who help with set up (one day to
set up and shoot), but would we have enough time for set up before
match time? My only other concern is those hot summer days ....
perhaps we'll need to retain the morning format for July and August,
but other events could start later.

What do you all think? Your feedback is appreciated ...

Great idea. As a shift worker, it would be a lot easier to make
afternoon matches. There were a bunch of matches that I would have
made in the past but just couldn't get there early enough.

I prefer the set up the day before, and shoot the following morning;
less rush for the stage design, and I get two days of shooting in..:)
As well, wrapping up in the early PM lets me get the toys cleaned, a
quick bardy for dinner, and off to bed for a 0300 start to the work
week.

Hi Dave et al,

Lots of pros/cons here...
Saturday
- pro - the course remains fairly unknown to all, can begin early and
end
early on Sunday, the folks who help on Saturday usually get some free
shooting done
- Con - usually a limited crew who are able to make it out to help on
the
Saturday

Sunday
- pro - the "Saturday" crew does not have to come in, many people on
Sunday
morning "may" get it set up quickly
- Con - Sunday with many people "too many chefs ruin the meal" (too
many
want their ideas integrated), all may become too familiar (reduced
challenge) with the course
prior the shoot, many WILL conviently show up late so they do not have
to do
some work (just look at the numbers that usually roll in late), hotter
afternoons, possibility of reduced shooter turn out due to event
running
later.

If we went with Sunday I would recommend:
- Those not there by the designated time either pay extra or do not
shoot.
There has to be a motivation for ALL to assist.
- The courses should be designed and drawn out in detail in advance so
it is
purely a set up. No "group designing" session which wastes important
time.

Perhaps if the Saturday was continued, those who help not only get a
afternoon of blasting after set up, but they also get a reduced fee
for
Sunday as a thank you? Perhaps this is a little more encouragement?
Or?

Just some thoughts.

Anyone else jump in with more ideas.

Some great points made guys, thank you for your contributions.

I'd like to hear from a few more members if at all possible while I
mull over the points made thus far.

All input is good, guys ... please post, its a valuable process.

Regards,
Dave
