Tacoma police were searching Friday for a man who robbed a South End
sandwich shop at gunpoint Thursday evening.
The robbery at Subway, 8638 Pacific Ave., occurred just after 5 p.m.,
Tacoma police reported.
The suspect was described as a white man about 5 feet 5 inches tall.
He wore a baseball hat, gray hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. He
wielded a handgun.
The description is similar to that of a man who robbed another Subway
restaurant on Tuesday night, Tacoma police spokesman Mark Fulghum
said.
In that case, a robber armed with a gun hit the Subway at 8415 S.
Hosmer St. just after 6:20 p.m.
He was described as white, in his 20s and 5 feet 7 with a thin build.
He wore a grey sweatshirt, blue jeans and a Seattle Seahawks ball cap.
Anyone with information is asked to call Tacoma-Pierce County Crime
Stoppers at 253-591-5959. The nonprofit organization offers up to
$1,000 for information leading to arrests and charges filed in cases.
