TACOMA — Tacoma police say they need help finding a man who called a
disabled woman a lesbian and then assaulted her at Wapato Park earlier
this month.

Police said the disabled woman was walking with the assistance of her
caregiver in the park’s parking lot at about 4:35 p.m. on November 5
when the man approached the women. The man told them they didn’t
belong there, called them “lesbians” and grabbed the victim by her
hair and scratched her.

The victim, who is unable to communicate or safely walk without
assistance, was holding hands with her caregiver, police said. The
caregiver pulled the victim away from the man and he fled on foot.

Police described the man as white, 25-30 years old and 6 feet tall
with a medium build. He had brown hair, brown eyes and thick eyebrows.
He was seen during the attack wearing blue jeans and a gray hooded
sweatshirt over a bright green shirt.

Tacoma/Pierce County CrimeStoppers is offering up to $1,000 for
information leading to the arrest and charges filed against a suspect.
Anyone with any information is asked to call 253-591-5959.
