My dad and neighbors swear by the stuff, and I've tried a bit of it on my
lawn with good results. They try not to put it on too thick on their lawns,
because it's pretty potent stuff. Next year, I'm thinking of spreading a
thick layer on my lawn and rototilling the whole thing, then reseeding.

From what I've seen so far, Tagro is an uncommon example of the government
doing something right.

Tagro is a wonderful product. Last year I more or less followed Tacoma
PUD's new lawn planting plan. Only thing I did wrong is where they
advise 1" of Tagro, I figured "What the heck, if 1 is good, think what
4 would do". BIG MISTAKE... All of last summer I was forced to mow at
least twice a week! If I mowed on Sunday and waited til Thursday, the
stuff was over the top of my mower. Lawn so green, it almost looked
blue. And this past summer the new lawn still looked great.

Where do I find info on Tacoma's PUD's new lawn planting system? We have
just had the backyard dug up from a rockery being put in. So this is a
chance for a "fresh start" My plan is so far to sprinkle on gypsum then
about 1" layer of Tagro which will hopefully improve the clay soil and
keep the ugly weeds from growing till the spring when we can turn it
into the soil. I'm only going to plant about 1/3 of the area with a
lawn the rest will be shrubs and a few easy care low water flowers and
bark multch. This past summer was just to hot and dry!

Tacoma Water has a green and white booklet titled "Principles of
Turfgrass Management - Water Use and a Healthy Lawn". I got one at a
Neighborhood Council meeting but I'm sure you can get one at Tacoma
Water's Offices. TAGRO is free in your bags or buckets, $5.00 for
pickup truck loads and over 2 cubic yards it's $5 per cubic yard. For
more info call 502-2150.

Bob, I live in Colorado and we have clay soil. Is there anyway to get this product from you. Or do you recommend any mixture from the stores.

Crazy question but thank you

Tagro is truly an excellent product. We put it around around our outdoor and indoor plants and add it to potting soil for annuals. Add an inch or so to your grass every spring and no other fertilizer will need to be used. Cheap and extremely effective.
