One particular piece which comes in the movie twiceThe first time when Karthik escapes from the Police Jeep and starts running
towards Revathi...Fate does not allow them to unite. The second time when Mohan starts running towards the train which slowly
moves out of the platform ..this time they unite..This is a fast violin piece which I cannot forget. Other than that there
are many pieces in the movie ("Karthik's 23 min episode has some fast pieces")
Wish someone compiles these pieces and gets an album out. I will surely buy this
soundtrack.Gadi---

Dear friend
The theme music of "BOMBAY" is silmilar
(for my Knowledge 85% silmilar ) to theme music of a english movie
"WYATT EARP",Which is starred by Kevin Costner. Regards
Niranjan chelliah .

Oh, what I wouldnt do to get IR's works (not "best of")
on CD! Rahman has come in at the right time, when CDs,
instrumentals and soundtracks in general are taking off.Reg the movie sitara, there are identical tamil songs
in various movies. Cant remember off hand which ones.bharath

: bharath I think someone already posted here that Bombay theme music is very
similar(!?) to that of Wyatt Earp (Kevin Costner). I agree!

While on the subject of theme musics, the first tamil movie sountrack
to have a theme music (as far as I know) was K. Balachandar's Punnagai
Mannan (Kamal, Revathi, Sri Vidya). It was called 'Computer Music:
Love Theme'. and it is an excellent piece. As for the Bombay Theme all I can say is 'palanaal thirudan oru naal
ahappaduvaan' anbudan
Dushyanth G.

: be matched by a collation of the background music
: from other movies -- for instance, many somber
: movies play this *genre* of music in the background
: in scenes that are mute and evocative. Does anyone
: remember/know of such collations, available as part
: of movie song-collections?

But there is a crucial difference between these English movie pieces
and BambAi's theme music (BTM). BTM starts out in the Indian style,
as a pure melody. I heard that the ragam is "Ananda bhairavi".
As the flute is replaced by the violin, the style changes, and the
piece gets "westernized" (by the introduction of harmony?).
Instead of a single melody, there are 2 (3?) intermingling
violin pieces, making the (already) excellent song awesome. In fact, Raguman is quite fond of harmonizing, especially in the
last stanza of his songs. Watch out for "harmonies" at the end of
the following songs (or in some cases like 1, 2, 5, A below,
throughout the song). Are there any more? Does ILayarAjA do it too?
Note that I am not talking about music that comes after the song
(as in "iLaya niLa pozhigirathu"), nor the Carnatic style violin
that plays exactly the tune being sung. SongMovieInstrument to watchEffect1. BTMbambAiViolinAwesome

I do remember some bits of music - background scores from movies
like "Tik Tik Tik","Johny" etc and this is not a separate record
and it is packaged with "Ninaivellam Nitya" LP. I don't think it
came out it in casette/CD. Ilayaraja in my opinion changed the trend
of Background score and most of the times he uses theme music effectively
to reflect the mood of the film. I do remember the following scores : 1) 'Nayagan' a) whenever Kamal meets charanya in the initial stages
before their marriage - very distinct one.
b) Another theme music whenever Gang rivalry take place -
like reddy &co attacks kamal and vice versa.
c) In the second half, "Then-pandi seemaiyile" instrumental.2) 'Nadodi Thendral' - Most of the love sequences between Karthick/Ranjita.
3) "Mouna Ragam' - As mentioned by another person, the music is very dynamic
during the brief period of Karthick/Revathi associated
scenes.
4) 'Mudal Mariyadai' - The scene where Ranjani gets killed - great use of
'flute' - in fact, Bharatiraja himself explained this
scene in one of his DD interviews.
5) 'Aaan Pavam' - Love sequences (Pandyan/Sita). Also checkout 'Tik.Tik.Tik','Johny','Moodupani'. Regards,
Maheswarn Swaminathan.

The entire script is organized based on two investigations. One in the first half and the other one happening in the second half. Both are brutal in its own sense. The research works that has gone behind in making the movie should be appreciated. Vetrimaran has added a new visual dimension to the novel by M. Chandrakumar which otherwise may not have been noticed.

Overall this investigation is brutal and very realistic. It is filled with moments that would deeply affect you. In the end, you would walk out with an immense satisfaction of watching a great movie. Kudos to Vetrimaran and team for giving a good cinema.

Overall Thirudan Police is more about police rather than the thief. Apart from minor glitches and the songs for the sake of songs Thirudan Police is definitely deserves a watch when you are at leisure.
