Im currently using the lite version of foldersync.

I've setup two folderpairs for the same folders that on my linux NAS at home. One folder pair uses SMB method for connection when im home over my wifi and the other folderpair (same folders as in the smb pair) uses sftp. SFTP is for external connection when im on a cellular network so that i sync when im away from home. The problem i have is that though my folders are in sync over the SMB pair. If run the sync with the sftp pair, almost all my folder/files start to copy all over again..i dont want this to happen as it would be alot of data to go over cellular and would take for ever..
Is this something that could be overcome via filters in the full version?
Im guessing that linux timestamps might be to blame even though the files have not changed since my last sync.
Can someone please shed some input on this. Thanks

They are different folderpairs.
You should be able to solve your problem by using SFTP at home as well as on the road.

Yes most likely that would solve the issue. But the thing is with SFTP i get speeds of only about 300KB.. whereas with SMB i can sync at 3MB/sec...

Thanks..

Another option might be SMB over VPN on the road.
My wireless router has a VPN server I can connect to remotely.

Yup, thought about that already.. same issue. I have a vpn server on my router also also, but again the vpn server itslef seems to give me very limited speed for some reason.. I had set that up for something else a while back but becuase of the speed i gave up on that.

By the way, my home internet is 60Mbps down, 10Mbps up... So even my best case scenario would be about 1MB upload over SFTP when im not on my local network...

i dont see why the different folder pairs, even though they sync betweent the same folders between my NAS and my phone, would not have the same sync behavior over SMB of SFTP..

1. The usual problems with remote speed differences:
    (a) Latency in all the back and forth traffic required. Nothing much can be done about that.
    (b) Encryption overhead in router. Possible solution is turning off encryption,
and/or using.SSH port forwarding instead of VPN.
2. Method differences make them look like different files. You should stick with a single method.
