Foldersync cannot access External SD Card

Cannot open the external SD card from the FolderSync's file manager, but can access it fine within the default file manager or even AirDroid's file manager. The 3 dots on the bottom right doe'nt have 'settings' option. Quite dissapointed as I was going to be backing up photos from the external SD Card to the cloud. How come this is not possible?

This app has issues with the SD card after KitKat, moreso than other apps. The developer(s) of the app can't quite figure it out, so they've stopped responding to posts about the issue.

That's a problem with KitKat that we have to blame Google for :-/

Having said that, On my Galaxy S5, I got around it by rooting the phone, Installing Super SU and then the app called SD Fix from the Play Store. Everything works fine now, and it was pretty hassle free.
Depending on your phone, it should be pretty easy to find rooting instructions.

There are options to help alleviate the issue. They can set up the app to natively use the external /android/data folder, or to use SAF and document providers. This doesn't completely restore read/write access to the entire SD, but it helps.

So far, the developer of Folder Sync hasn't made any progress in this regard. However I primarily blame Google for giving no notice of this change and having poor documentation on the implementation.

That is ridiculous, I've run all the SD Card fixes and what have you on my rooted 4.4.2 phone, all other applications with SD card issues are now behaving but this continues to not work for me....... surely there's a solution?

I've done that and it still doesn't work :/
