TACA condemns disproportionate police action and violence in Turkey
Dear members and friends,
TACA board and members have been following the developments in Turkey with deep concern and sadness since May 31, 2013. The evolution of police response to demonstrations which started as a peaceful sit-in to protect a public park that reached to police brutality is unacceptable.
Unfortunately, government officials failed to control the disproportionate action and to listen to the concerns of the public. Instead, elected government officials continue to encourage these harsh tactics and show great insensitivity to the concerns of demonstrators. As TACA Board we hope that the government takes action to end the violence and start a dialogue to relieve the unrest as soon as possible.
TACA is a non-profit, non-governmental organization, representing Turkey and Turkish people in Chicago, preserving Turkish language and culture as well as teaching it to new generations, bringing Turks and friends of Turks on both national and religious holidays, as well as variety of platforms such as cultural, professional and educational under the guidance of Ataturk�s principles. TACA has proven this stance by its serving the society and organizing activities which are open to all public regardless of membership for the last 40 years.
TACA board is with our community and stands in solidarity with the public who are exercising their constitutional rights to gather in peaceful demonstrations in Turkey.

TACA Yonetimi Turkiye�de emniyet kuvvetlerinin gostericilere gosterdigi orantisiz siddeti kiniyor
Sayin uye ve dostlarimiz,
TACA yonetimi olarak 31 Mayis 2013 tarihinde Taksim�de baslayan ve hala bariscil bir cozume ulasmamis uzucu gelismeleri endise ile takip etmekteyiz. Emniyet kuvvetlerinin bariscil bir oturma eylemi yapan gostericilere saldirisi ile baslayip, orantisiz olarak artan siddeti kabul edilemeyecek bir hal almistir.
Maalesef, mevcut hukumet bu olaylar karisinda hem emniyet guclerinin siddetini engelleme, hem de gosterilere katilan Turk halkinin sesine kulak verme gorevini yerine getirememistir. �Aksine halkin sesini duymak yerine durumu daha da atesleyen demecler vermeye devam edilmektedir. TACA yonetimi olarak, hukumetin ve yerel yoneticilerin bir an evvel bu siddete son verilmesine cagri yaparak, taraflar arasinda diyalogu baslatmalarini umit ediyoruz.
TACA dernegi, Ataturk�un temel ilkeleri isiginda Chicago�daki Turkleri temsil eden, dilimizi ve kulturumuzu yasatan, yeni nesillere aktaran, hem milli, hem dini ozel gunlerimizde ve uyelerimizin her turlu istek ve ihtiyaclarina cevap verecek sekilde kulturel, sanatsal, profesyonel ve egitimsel plaformlarda Turkleri ve Turkiye�yi sevenleri bir araya getirme amaciyla, kar amaci gutmeden calisan bir sivil toplum kurulusudur. Uye olsun olmasin, herkese acik olan hizmet ve duzenledigi sayisiz etkinlikle TACA son 40 yilda ayni cizgisini korumaya devam etmistir.
TACA yonetimi Chicago�daki vatandaslarimizla beraber Turkiye�de bariscil birsekilde toplanma ve gosteri haklarini ifa eden halkimizin yanindadir.
