Scholarship: English for Heritage Language Speakers

Native speakers of critical languages are in high demand in the U.S. government. EHLS trains advanced English speakers to be effective communicators and strong candidates for federal jobs.

All EHLS participants receive a�full scholarship�that includes tuition and a living stipend.

The 2014 EHLS Program is open to native speakers of Amharic, Arabic, Balochi, Bambara, Dari, Hausa, Hindi, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Mandarin Chinese, Pashto, Persian Farsi, Punjabi, Somali, Tajik, Tamashek, Turkish, Urdu, Uzbek or Yoruba. For more info visit www.ehlsprogram.org

Sultan Oner from Midwestern University (Downers Grove, IL), is conducting a survey for her doctoral dissertation called "Blood Pressure Monitoring in Individuals of Turkish Descent/T�rk K�kenli Bireylerde Tansiyon Denetiminin Kavranması." Individuals of ages 18 or older, who have a Turkish ethnic background and live in the United States or Turkey are invited to participate. The survey is available in both English and Turkish. International Children's Day Chicago

TACA and Turkish Friends of Naperville are pleased to present: International Children�s Day. The event will be held on�Sunday April 21st, 2013�from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The event will be held at�Owen Elementary School, which is located at 1560 Westglen Dr, Naperville, IL.

The International Children�s Day event will be filled with fun,�a parade of nations, performances in traditional costumes, exhibits, face painting, festivities, activities, gifts, and many more surprises.

*Michael Milgrim (PhD: the University of Pennsylvania) has conducted research on Ottoman-Russian Relations/ Osmanli-Rus Munasebetleri:1877-78 / War Indemnity Problem / Harp Tazminati Meselesi at the Ottoman Archives in Istanbul (the Basvekalet and Hariciye Arsivleri) living in Turkey between the years 1970 and 1974. He was an assistant professor (ustad-e yar) at the former Pahlavi University (Danishgah-e Pahlavi) in Iran from 1974 to 1979. He speaks Turkish and Persian. Dr. Milgrim will captivate you with his knowledge of this Ottoman period and its treasures.

Canakkale Zaferi, sadece Turk tarihinin degil yakin tarihin en buyuk zaferlerinden biridir. Ancak bu zafer kolay alinmamistir. 253,000 Turk askeri Canakkale bogazini Itilaf devletlerine karsi kendi canlariyla gecilmez kilmistir. Bu zafer ayni zamanda Turk bagimsizlik tarihinin donum noktasidir. Baskomutan Mustafa Kemal Ataturk'un "Ben size taarruz emretmiyorum. �lmeyi emrediyorum. Biz �l�nceye kadar ge�ecek zaman i�inde yerimize baska kuvvetler ve baska komutanlar ge�ebilir" emriyle canini hice sayan sehitlerimizin fedakarligi sayesinde Edirne'den Ardahan'a uzanan vatan topraklari uzerinde kurulu Turkiye Cumhuriyeti'nin bir parcasiyiz.

Canakkale Zaferinin 97. yildonumunu kutluyor ve Canakkale Savaslarinda hayatlarini vermis olan tum sehitlerimizi saygiyla aniyoruz.

Pazar gunu TACA Ataturk Okulu ogrenci ve ogretmenlerinin hazirladigi Anma Torenine hepinizi bekliyoruz.
