Musical Conversation: Sertab Erener & Demir Demirkan

Winners of the 2003 Eurovision Song Contest,�Sertab and Demir are among Turkey's most popular�musicians. Sertab is a well-known Turkish pop star who trained professionally as an opera singer. She is�a cross-over soprano with a vocal range that extends to high F. Her 13 albums have sold in the millions�in Europe and Asia. Guitarist, composer and producer Demir is one of Turkey's true rock idols. Since�2000, he has released a dozen CDs including solo albums and film scores. He and Sertab co-wrote�the 2003 international hit, "Every Way That I Can," Turkey's first and only winner in the history of the�Eurovision Song Contest. Sertab and Demir's music creates a powerful unified vision of modern and�traditional arts, and its essential eastern and western influences.��

International Children's Day Chicago

*Michael Milgrim (PhD: the University of Pennsylvania) has conducted research on Ottoman-Russian Relations/ Osmanli-Rus Munasebetleri:1877-78 / War Indemnity Problem / Harp Tazminati Meselesi at the Ottoman Archives in Istanbul (the Basvekalet and Hariciye Arsivleri) living in Turkey between the years 1970 and 1974. He was an assistant professor (ustad-e yar) at the former Pahlavi University (Danishgah-e Pahlavi) in Iran from 1974 to 1979. He speaks Turkish and Persian. Dr. Milgrim will captivate you with his knowledge of this Ottoman period and its treasures.
