I have had this Pixma G4200 bulk tank all-in -one for less than 18 months and it will not print, scan, copy or anything! Error Code displayed is 5B00. Canon Tech indicated it was an issue with the print carridge sensor and that my only option was to upgrade to a new printer. Online searches for this error code seemed to all indicate it was an absorber pad full issue. What good is saving $$ with bulk tank ink when the printer itself self destructs before using all the ink supplied?
Anyone had any luck at all with this? bought one may last year and it wont do anything now because of the 5b00 error. Tried all the recommended fixes with booting into service mode, hitting stop 5 & 6 times, tried the reset tool. No love.
I ended up with the same feedback from Canon: there is no work around. They offered a discounted price a G4210 which was about $15 lower than I could have gotten at Best Buy. No thanks. I paid more for the G4200 with the assumption I was getting better quality and would save on ink over the long haul. It lasted 26 months.
I have tried reset steps with the printer's manual power/stop controls to reset the waste ink counter without success. Understand i can do that with the assist of the above service mode tools... but can't find a direct safe download source for either version.
I've downloaded the correct service tools and used two appropriate softwares to open them on my mac since they are Windows files. That was successful... but my Canon MG6100 printer won't respond/sync with the service tool... and used a USB connection as instructed And I haven't discovered a manual way to reset the counter. I think I'm against a rock and hard place. I just needed it to last through Xmas
This Canon service tool is a program to fix printer problems in various types of Canon printers from the inside, such as resetting, maintenance, and so on. Some errors that can be overcome with this resetter are Error B200.
I need a service tool that is compatible with Canon MG2560 printer to reset ink overflow error 5B00. I have seen reference to V3800 but cannot find. It would be great if someone could help with sourcing this or equivalent.
I suppose that now that a week has passed without any response I can be pretty safe to conclude that there is no suitable service tool available for this printer. That being the case I will shortly tear down the printer and salvage any reusable bits I find. It seems a shame that the printer is totally serviceable apart from the virtual self destruct time bomb that Canon has built into its firmware.
Since 5B00 is for waste ink, do not reset the counter until it has been fixed. Consumer inkjets like this don't give much room (if any) to budge between the error and reserve pad to account for end user resetting.
@timbergetter Canon got smart a few years ago and moved to cloud based logins (PRO series), or a special license (consumer/Maxify). V3800 looks to potentially be cloud or license based, with 3400 being the last local one :/. You may need to get a 3rd party tool.
It's based on the mL capacity of the pads, with firmware tracking. If you use 5mL and that's 1%, it counts 1%. As far as scans work now for me, I use a ScanJet G4050 and I have a ScanJet Pro 2500 f1 (I got this for the ADF with how cheap it was) on the way :-). I don't miss my used printers as a scanner model. When my MG2120 died, I bought my G4050. Like, seriously the 2500 f1 has a maintenance kit for the ADF. That's the stuff I wish was modular on AIO printers. It ain't cheap at $79, but the fact if my 2500 f1 does need it in the future I can swap it.
Let try to run a system scan with Speed Up My PC to see any error, then you can do some other troubleshooting steps. What can you do to fix Service tool v3400.exe ? If you encounter difficulties with Service tool v3400.exe, you can uninstall the associated program (Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove programs Let try the program named DriverIdentifier to see if it helps. Is Service tool v3400.exe using too much CPU or memory ? It's probably your file has been infected with a virus. Something wrong with Service tool v3400.exe ?
