U-M Microsoft 365 (OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams, and all Office 365 productivity apps) accounts are provided to all active faculty, staff, students, and Type-1 sponsored affiliates on the Ann Arbor, Dearborn, and Flint campuses. Students who are enrolled in the current term, staff, and faculty have the ability to install the software on up to five (5) non-PCC devices. If a student is registered for the next term, their access continues. If they do not register for the next term, their access is removed at the end of the current term.

Some Office 365 subscription plans provide access to a desktop Office suite which includes the most current versions of Word, Excel and PowerPoint. If you choose to use Office 365 as your primary resource, then please make sure that you obtain a subscription plan which includes access to the desktop applications.

The Microsoft Student Advantage program gives you free access to Office 365 while you are actively a student at SJSU, including access to the Office Standard desktop applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Upon graduation or de-matriculation, you will no longer be entitled to use Office 365 through the Student Advantage program. At such time, the Office desktop applications may enter a reduced-functionality mode, and your access to the Office Online Web applications, as well as SkyDrive cloud storage, will be discontinued.
Microsoft Office 365 Education for students, faculty, and staff is a service that enables access to a suite of Office 365 cloud products as well as download and install of the full Office Productivity Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and more. The software can be made available on up to 5 personal devices.

Your Office 365 Education account will be terminated the same time as your NetID. The account termination guidelines for the NetID accounts can be found on our Access, Accounts and Password Guidelines page. At the time of account deletion, all data and information stored in the cloud service will no longer be accessible or recoverable.
Faculty and staff are reminded to review Policy #860 Information Security before storing data in cloud services, including any Office 365 Education product. Office 365 Education may be used only for materials and information that are not Confidential, and not covered by HIPAA, FERPA, PHI or other similar regulations. Students will retain access to OneDrive for a minimum of 365 days after they leave the University. After that, students have the option to purchase the subscription for that service through Microsoft.
Graduating students lose all access to Microsoft 365 on October 1 or May 1, whichever comes first after their graduation. Graduates should plan for this by copying OneDrive files to personal storage and creating an alternate email account. Microsoft Bookings is a scheduling tool that allows users to define appointment availabilities and publish a web-based calendar page for their internal and external customers to access and schedule appointments on. It is highly integrated with Outlook and other Microsoft 365 apps.
