This happens at least once a day. I would be working and all of a sudden my keyboard is unresponsive. If I switch to another open project I already had open the keyboard works. The only fix is to minimize the unresponsive Archicad and maximize it again to get the keyboard working. This is happening to others at work also.
Given it's a keyboard issue, you should probably state what keyboard you are using as well as your installed keyboard drivers. Basically, default windows keyboard drivers, or if you have additional drivers over the top such as Logitech Options or iCue.
Yes shortcuts do not work also. Entire keyboard unresponsive unless I minimize then maximize the problem Archicad. It's just a generic gaming keyboard. Will try getting a new one and if I remember post an update.
This issue has started happening to me in the last week. I would notice it when I was trying to back out of a command and the esc key wouldn't register. I can tab into other programs and all the different keyboard strokes work fine in those applications, but then when I go back into the ArchiCAD window, no keyboard commands register. I have been going up to file to manually save, closing, and reopening to get everything working again. Haven't tried the maximize and minimize trick yet. Seems to be an annoying little bug though.
I recently updated to Windows 10 anniversary update and recentlly noticed the PS/2 Keyboard has stopped working in Windows 10 apps such as the settings menu and the start menu. Desktop apps and control panel work fine including shortcuts buttons such as volume up, web browser etc.
The default driver installed seems to be Lenovo ThinkPad driver PS/2 keyboard (which the keyboard Is not). I uninstalled the driver, un-plugged keyboard and tried changing the driver to the standard driver and HID keyboard driver with no luck.
None of the answers worked for me, so I simply opened Task Manager, killed explorer.exe (Task Manager - Details - locate explorer.exe and kill it) and run it again (Task Manager - File - Run new task - type "explorer").
When using any feature that needs keyboard input or simply pressing enter / escape, nothing happens and the Apple sound for an invalid key stroke is triggered. In order to fix, one must remove the app and reinstall. Shortly after reinstalling, the problem occurs again.
The keyboard works fine in Shapr3D when Safari is not turned on. If I open Safari while work on Shapr3D, or turn on Shapr3D from Safari, or in any case, the keyboard does not work.
If you have both Shapr3D and Safari turned on, and then quit Safari from that state, the keyboard will not work in Shapr3D. If you quit Shapr3D from that state and restart it, the keyboard will not work. After rebooting, only Shapr3D should work.
Hello everyone, I am having the same problem with a brand new pro install, and 2nd download and install. Done all of the above and best case is, I might draw one rectangle using r and inputting dimensions before it stops working again. Any more ideas?
Occasionally, I may be able to save and close Grasshopper, then go into Rhino (the only window left on either screen) and the keyboard may work. At other times, even closing Grasshopper will not give me back full control of the keyboard in Rhino.
Also having the sme problem of not being able to use delete key. Just spent a small fortune on a laptop to switch to windows from mac to open up the possibilities of GH and somewhat regretting it. Hope this can get sorted. Thanks
Hey Guys! I remembered this was discussed some time ago here at the forum, and If i can remember, the solution was: Set Rhino and GH fullscreen, and the click a couple times at this button over here in the lef of your windows clock (see attachment).
Mahmoud, Rhino.Inside.Revit hang ups are a different issue & we are working on improving these. If you can report workflows where this occurs it will help. They are typically Revit Transaction errors. Thanks.
Recently I installed iPadOS public beta and bought an external third party keyboard. The spacebar of the keyboard does not work properly on some applications including the native email app. When I clicked on the spacebar, it inputs newline instead of space. Also, I noticed I can input space by clicking on shift+spacebar or alt+spacebar.
Same issue here. I'm wondering if it's specific to 3rd party keyboards (vs Apple's Smart Keyboard Folio)? I've also tried with multiple (non-Apple) bluetooth keyboards.
Hope this will be resolved in the final release.
And a bit more, you can just clear the shortcut for Spacebar under the "full keyboard access>>Commands" (it was set as act of Activate by default), don't need to disable the full function in case you need other shortcut to control the ipad.
My Air is only a few weeks old and all of a sudden the keyboard stopped working. An external keyboard works (USB-C connection and bluetooth), but the internal keyboard is non-responsive except for the power button. I ran diagnostics and everything reports back okay. I went through the Apple suggestions - slow keys isn't checked, the correct keyboard input is selected, etc. Software is up today. Is the quality really suffered that much? First, my two year old MacBook Pro dies ((display went out and it was $$$ to fix it despite it being a clear displaygate problem -- all of the textbook symptoms were met) ) and now a few weeks old M2 Air is not working? Any suggestions on fixes other than trying to find an open slot in the Genius Bar? Disappointing to say the least. Thanks in advance.
I had the same issue! I bought MacBook air m2 12 days ago! Today the keyboard stopped working, I reboot the system but still does not work, and right now I can't turn on my laptop because can not type through the keyboard. The external keyboard was working for a couple of hours, then it stopped working too. The engineer at the apple store take a look and said that its the manufacturer's problem, I told them I want to return it but they did not accept that. I asked for a replacement, but they did not agree with that too! They said they can fix it for free and that's because I have Apple care +. I don't know what to do, it's the worse experience ever! and also the worst support!
I have the same issue . I contacted apple and they would fix it for over $600 which was an estimate , they said it would cost more possibly. I was out of warranty by 9 days. This is poor on apple who use to right their wrongs. Apple should be replacing every MacBook Air 2022 M2 that has done this. This is not an isolated problem , this is on a larger scale . Apple fix the hardware and issue a recall
I'm starting to think it's caused by temperature (this thing has no fan). I've started using it on a cool surface with the aircon going. The crashing seems to happen less often but it's still a daily event ;-/
MacBook Air m2, 2022. Keyboard has suddenly stopped working. Tried all the solutions I could find on internet but nothing is working. This is really bad on part of apple. Bought such a costly laptop and it's useless in a year. mine is out of warranty and I don't want to spend a fortune again to get it fixed. Did anyone find any other solution?
so I just wiped out my Mac and boom it worked, so I think if you mess with the voice controls at all it might glitch it b/c mine kept turning on with voice activation, but I'm using it now- nobody could figure it out and I was going to send it to a repair apple person but fed ex messed up and put the wrong label and it just sat there and then came back to me still sealed with my seals lol, so I called and we decided to erase and start fresh just to see- b/c I couldn't input any passwords etc. also I got this one on amazon prime and have a return of jan 2023, where as apple is 14 days- So fingers crossed it truly was with the voice dictation program- if I mess with that part and it happens this baby is off to amazon prime - to $$ to deal with little glitches
Hello, I want to thank you for the instructions. I had made some changes without realizing the effects, so your walking me through that was very helpful. I am in the middle of a move so I have a million things going on in my head right now. The computer is for my wife so I am trying to prepare it to take with me when I move. Your guidance was impeccable!
Almost the exact same thing didn't even have a three weeks the right side of the keyboard started stopping I had to send it back they said do you want us to check with you if it's going to call some money also **** yeah i'm going to return it if it does
The thing that fixed it for us was a BIOS update - if you use the Dell command centre (comes pre-installed with Dell machines) you should be able to check for any pending updates - more often than not it will list a BIOS update (9/10 of our machines did).
Out of curiosity, have you booted into Safe Mode? I have had this issue myself but was able to resolve it by booting into safe mode. Mouse and KB both worked, rebooted machine and everything was find after that.
I had the same issue with Dell Optiplex and solved it uninstalling drivers in that pc remotely (as mouse and keyboard will stop working), reboot and reinstall official drivers from Dell Support website.
Can you post links to the drivers, as I could not find any drivers for Dell USB Keyboard & Mouse listed against the Dell Tag for my PCs. I had assumed it was because they are installed as part of Windows? There was a driver for a Logitech bluetooth one but nothing for standard wired USB ones??
Another option that was showing on bleeping computer was to do the above power down three times to get into the recovery console. But when you get into the advanced recovery options, select the command line option and when in there follow this procedure:
After 30 minutes or so the keyboard started working again. Now this has happened again today. Again I tried these tricks and it took 30-45 min this time. Last thing I did was swapping between laptop and tablet mode ( however it didnt work when I did it earlier).
