Hello Bronx and Uptown TA Friends!

Here are some updates from the committee.

Meeting Recap:
  • Community Board Updates
    • We are heartened to hear the meeting for the next phase of the Harlem River Greenway went well! CB7 in the Bronx sent a letter of support with a few notes.
  • Bus Meetings MTA + DOT
    • Anna gave updates on a meeting with the DOT and MTA. They are working together on bus improvements around the city and are tackling 3/4 of the routes we are petitioning for (sign the petition)
    • We are curious about NYPD/enforcement involvement in the meetings and planning.
  • Bronx and Uptown Wishlist
    • We updated our wishlist with a few more items. Feel free to make a comment to add a wishlist item. It is always good to have these on hand whenever the DOT or an elected official asks us for ways to improve a particular committee.
    • The wishlist started as a bike list only, but we are adding transit and pedestrian improvements now too.
    • If anyone can help organize the list by council district, community board, or type of project, let me know!
Upcoming Events:
  • TONIGHT: Conversations about transportation with CM Riley. This is a great event to get our issues on his radar.
  • April 28th, count bikes with us for the Central Harlem Bikeway
  • May 2nd, Blessing of the Bikes, aside from being a cool event, DOT will be there doing initial outreach for projects Uptown, including the Central Harlem Bikeway
  • May 9th, TA's 5 Boro Pizza Challenge do the challenge or email Anna Berlanga if you want to volunteer at the Bronx stop. The location is top secret!
  • In lieu of our May Meeting, on May 20th we will be hosting the Ride of Silence. Please join us to put up plaques for a few cyclists that have been killed int he Bronx over the past year.
  • Finally, for Bike Anywhere day on May 21st, we will be supporting BikeFest at PS 18. Click here if you want to volunteer for the event and click here if you want to ride laps in the morning - either for fun or to show the kids/leaders that people DO bike in the Bronx.
