Hey TA Universe,

Hope your year is coming to a smooth end!!

We here at Transportation Alternatives cannot thank you enough for all the effort and joy you put in to our committees, campaigns and the broader transportation advocacy universe to give the life needed to win big fights and keep challenging the city to do more. Please read this full email because we are giving away things and have an announcement for an awesome training series early next year.

Year in Review
We have been doing a lot of planning for the new year and just want to take a moment to respect all the victories we had this year. This doesn't even include all the groundwork we have laid for next year from successful actions and activations. Here are just some wins:

Local Campaigns

New York City
  • 2,000 Intersection and Daylighting upgrades
  • Intro 417: Removing bike lane waiting periods
  • Int 0708-2022: Redesigning the city’s truck route network for safety & visibility
  • Citywide E-bike public charging pilot
  • Permanent Open Restaurant Program
New York State
  •  Automatic Enforcement of bus lanes
  •  Federal Approval of Congestion Pricing
End of Year Contribution
As you can tell we help your money make impact in this city. If you can add an end-of-year contribution, it is currently being doubled and will help us continue to do our work in the new year. You can support us here on this link :)

Seeking to Donate: Free Bike Parking Rack for up to 6 Bikes
We were generously donated a bike parking rack by DERO. We are looking to help it find a new home ideally at a school but open to all situations, we just need it out of our office. Please reach out if you would be able to take the rack and help handle the logistics to get it to a location and installed (delivery, installation with adequate power tools)

Activist All-Day Training for End of January
Each year we run our activist training series Your City Your Voice. It has been a while since we have done it in person and are looking to finally do it again since the start of the pandemic. It will be all day in our office, with lunch provided. You will learn the key foundational tools needed - from the strategic planning process for a campaign to how to present your campaign to an elected official, and everything in between. It works well for other issue areas of advocacy (like food justice, education, etc)

Please RSVP for the next session invitation here. Please note you will need to sign up again on the official RSVP event page once its up, but this ensures you will get on our interested parties list. Important since we have space for only up to 50 activists participating

Thanks all again. Wishing you a fantastic end of the year and excited to collaborate in the new year :)

Hi all.

  • Oops - this is the link to make an end of year donation to TA :)
  • The tentative hold date for Your City Your Voice is Sunday, January 28th, and it roughly goes from 9am to 6pm (timing to still be confirmed!)
  • We have a taker for the bike rack but please still let me know if you are interested so we have options incase it doesn't work out
