Hi, everyone,  I got 2 responses from the 24 hr helpline.  The first has to do with people who have leaky sites.  Here is their response:

When it comes to leaks, there is not may reasons behind it. Sometimes it can be the insertion technique. Sometimes it may be something wrong with the adhesive or maybe the adhesive is not staying intact to the skin due to sweating or lotions the customer may be using. Sometimes the sites may be being pulled or tugged on. This is why we encourage customer to call in so if possible we can offer some assistance and t/s to see what is causing the issue.

The second response was after I wrote back to them asking about the leaky reservoirs that I think many of you were concerned with:

Well the reservoirs o rings can sometimes be damaged if the plunger is pulled from the reservoir after filling it. 99 percent of the time leaks in reservoirs are because of damaged o rings. The customer wants to make sure that they are turning the plunger counter clock wise until it falls out of the reservoirs to prevent damage to the o rings. I hope that makes sense.

I then asked if pulling the plunger out and putting it back in before filling the reservoir could damage the o rings, and was told yes.  There has not been any particular lot number reported with any of these problems.  Please let me know if you have further questions, but I again encourage any of you who think you have a problem with either a reservoir or infusion set to call the 24 hr helpline.  Happy Holidays!!

Thank you, Linda.  If I change the reservoir but keep the same tubing ( so just unattached the current tubing from old empyt reservoir and attach a new resevoir, then prime pump and site as usual) could this cause problems? For example, if I ran out of insulin, but still had a good site (and within the 3 day window for site usage).
Thanks
Lindsey

Lindsay, this does not sound like it should cause any problem. The black o rings are on the plunger part of the reservoir, not between the reservoir and tubing.

I did not think so.  I know what you mean about the O ring.  I have never been in the habit of removing the plunger from the reservoir, but that is still good advice to know.
