Based on the early positive feedback, I will check in with everyone on this in February and compile any data we gather to see if there is a pattern A) that can warn us about troubled supplies lot numbers and B) that warrants raising the issue with Medtronic to get improvements in these supplies which are so vital to our daily well-being.
Sincerely,
Stuart

Yes, I have been having trouble with my Medtronic supplies- mostly the adhesive on the set. I have talked to Minimed once - and they did send the container to return the faulty items and replaced them at no charge. The reservoirs also are iffy - sometimes they are ok but often, I can't get them to work based on the pressure in the new reservoir. Will do the same in terms of a log as noted here. Thanks.

I use something called Baird protective skin wipes, which are sticky and help adhesive stick better. They are about $17 a box.
My insurance Blue Cross/Blue Shield covers them.
I don’t use Medtronic pump, I wear something called an OMNIPOD which is tubeless and uses adhesive backing to stick to your body.
However, they are kind of heavy so the adhesive is never enough so I cover them in a waterproof adhesive patch called- OPT SITE dressing.
They use them in hospitals to cover IV’s and open wounds.
However, they are large enough to completely cover my OMNIPOD and keep it stuck to me for several days.
My insurance covers those as well.
They come in a few different sizes.
I have also used the Baird Wipes – mainly because my skin was sensitive to the adhesive on the OMNIPOD. I have never used the adhesive patch though – just the Baird Wipes works for me. My insurance also has picked it up – Plus if you cannot find it elsewhere --- I do know that Walgreens will order it for you.
I purchase all my things through Doubek Medical Supply in Alsip, IL on 113th and Cicero Avenue.
708-293-1122. Just ask for the diabetic department and they can help you. I believe they can ship to your home.
I am guessing any medical supply house will have them if that’s too far away from you.
