Folks, it looks like Severn's injury was VERY real, but it looks like he will
be ok. It appears to have been a very similiar injury to that of SCSA with
temporary paralysis. Now that Severn is apparently ok, the WWF is going to make
it look like a work, but it was NOT!! I pulled this from a Dan Severn hompage:

>>>>>DAN SUFFERS INJURY ON RAW
Wrestling fans can't have failed to miss Dan receiving a badly-executed
piledriver from Owen Hart on RAW. Some people think the whole affair was a new
"angle", but if you look at the picture, you can see that Dan's head is not
cushioned between Owen Hart's thighs to soften the impact. Dan's mother
confirmed that tests conducted on her son showed no fractures and initial
prognosis indicates a good recovery [although it will take some time]. Which is
a great relief to many people. If you would like to send a card or good wishes,
you can do so by writing to his wrestling facility:
Dan Severn, Michigan Sports Camp, 315 N. Fiske Rd., Coldwater, MI 49036, USA.

As of the 1st October, this official statement has been released:
Due to the overwhelming e-mail Dan is sending out an attachment to thank
everyone that took the time to email him concerning his accident on Monday
Night Raw.
Dan suffered a short term paralysis from the impact. Dan is recuperating at
this time and it is not certain whether Dan will return to professional
wresting.<<<<<<

If he isn't quitting he should be fired. If he can't do a move correctly, he
shouldn't be using it. Will The WWF wait untill someone actually gets
paralized?? I hope not. These men and women are out there to entertain, not
to get their necks broken because of someones stupidity.

WHY SEVERN WAS "INJURED"
Here's the inside dope on the Dan Severn injury. Severn was injured because he
indeed needed dire time off from the Pro-Wrestling world. Severn was "injured" so
that he can spend time preparing for a shoot fight in December that will be one of
his last ones. Also on The Beast, Dan intended on coming out in his new WWF
introductions carrying all of his belts, which is like 5-10 odd belts but Vince
wouldn't let him. No word on how he feels about the whole situation...

The injury WAS an angle. Severn wanted time off to fight in the NWA 50th
aniversary show in 2 weeks. He was given clearance from Vince just prior
to his "injury". Admittedly it did look like a shoot, but it is well
documented that it was an angle. His personal website is not the best
source of inside info.

He will be doing the NWA show then taking a month off to "recover".

BTW: Apparently Owen flubbed his tearfull apology to Dan at the RAW
taping and had to redo it.

I meant no offence by the "Your a mark" comment.
I personally view the term similar to African-Americans calling each
other n*****.

In the context it is a non-insulting term used between people who "get
it".

The only people who should be offended by me calling them a "mark" are
people who don't know what a "mark" is.

I'm currently a huge mark for Foley,Rock,Juvi,Chavo,Saturn and
ESW.(Indie Cal.Fed)

My apologies for any offense taken.

Just because someone accidently hurt somebody else doesn't mean he/she
should be fired!!! This is a sport just like football. People get hurt
all the time , not always on purpose.
SO GET OVER IT!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!

It's funny because I recently got the Network and have been reliving the glory days of the attitude era. I had just watched this match between Dan and Owen and thought "hasn't Owen learned not to do this move anymore"? I wasn't sure if he was really injured or not but I gotta say that from the replays, it looked just like the incident with Austin.

I also find it funny that I'm commenting on something that was clearly posted almost 20 years ago.

So, since there are a few here that have recently commented I've got a question for ya. Is it just me, or is the WWE rather dull these days? I just don't think the heart is there anymore. Certainly not like it was during the attitude era. It's boring with boring superstars and the shows really have no structure anymore.

That's what made the show so much better than it is today.

Reading and responding on June 17th 2019. Wrestling sucks in today’s age so I chose a random raw and happened to be watching this match and couldn’t believe I forgot Owen used this move yet again after injuring Stone Cold. Looked 100% real and we would find out this wasn’t an angle but a quick google search brought me here because I wanted to read about the fallout from it. It’s crazy how old this thread is but still able to respond to. For all the other time travelers I’m going to ruin it for you. Undertaker still wrestles, Vince is still jacked, HHH married Steph in real life. Wcw and ecw are owned and put out to pasture by VKM. Stone Cold hasn’t aged a day as far as looks, HBK is bald and not a HBK anymore, Cornette is still pissed off at the world and most important Bret Hart proved to be truly the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be.

Bro, u did exaxtly what im doing today. I read your post and its exactly what im thinking. I dont even know what site this is but i watched the raw and saw this and typed it in google and this came up. Im canadian so naturally i loved the hart foundation but to see this done twice from owen within 2 years is kinda sad and i have no idea why he would do it like that especially after SCSA. Hes not gonna do it like the tombstone obviously, so then just dont do it. U can tell after it happens and owen realizes Dans hurt he almost cries in the ring....ur right, wrestling is terrible now. What im doin to relive the glory days is watching all the raws, heat, smackdowns and PPVs all in in order to follow the story. I started from beginning of 96' and now im at Oct 98 which is how i saw this move and was stunned this happend again.

I'm currently watching that very RAW as we speak. It sure did look legit. I thought man, Not again Owen. Apparently it was a work, though. I started watching the AE again bcus I needed a hiatus from the current product. Now that i think about it, it's 10 till 7ct on a Monday. It must be RAW IS WAR!

Well, as it turns out, all the "marks" who thought that Dan Severn was legitimately injured were completely right.
