After a brilliant add campaign, and several great looking trailers, and
magazine adds, and waiting in line for over 40 minutes just to see this
movie I can only tell you one thing:
DON'T
I can also tell you this: I was looking very forward to seeing this
movie. I even forgave them somewhat for GENERATIONS. I REALLY WANTED
TO LIKE THIS MOVIE, BUT I CAN'T
It’s time we sent a message to Rick Berman and associates, simply this:
Just because you get the right group of people and attach the STAR TREK
name to something doesn't mean that people will line up like sheep to go
and fatten your pockets
They showed no reverence to the seven year investment that many of us
put in watching the series and the characters develop. The result:

The good spots first:
Brent Spiner's performance is more than apology for what he did in
GENERATIONS. He was great!
Frakes directing was well done
The new ENTERPRISE LOOKS GREAT
NOW THE BAD NEWS
Patrick Stewart SUCKED!!!!!! He was a far from being Captain Picard and
he could have been. In the seven years he played Picard on the series,
he never behaved as he did in this PIECE of CRAP
Totally unbelievable, Totally out of character. The appeal of Picard
has always been his NOBILITY AND SENSE OF DUTY!! Never Violating the
Prime Directive. Apparently that's not so any more
Remember Picard is the man who was stripped and drugged and tortured at
the hands of the Cardassians, but now, all of a sudden he is capable of
bearing this huge grudge??? When did this happen?
Not nearly the disaster that GENERATIONS was, I found it funny that
after seeing almost every STTNG episode, that Berman, and Braga (the two
who wrote it) conveniently forgot so many established facts while they
were writing. Their was no mention of Hugh the Borg, and while Data
still had his emotion chip ( that he received as a result of the
downfall of the Borg Collective in DESCENT) No mention of LORE, and a
convenient changing of the BORG COLLECTIVE to the BORG HIVE. When did
they become insect like???????????
The BORG QUEEN is a dud, an immensely shallow and boring attempt to give
the BORG some form of detachable leader. If she is capable of
individual thought, then why is the Collective even functioning???
Remember what happened when HUGH returned to the Collective and had
individual thoughts? It destroyed the Collective, just as surely as the
Algorithm that Geordi & Data had created.
And why doesn't WORF explode when his spacesuit is punctured and he is
in hard vacuum??? (EVER SEE OUTLAND? THAT’S WHAT WOULD HAPPEN!!!!!!)
And how is it that the BORG can stand in hard vacuum and not explode as
well ( At least their organic components?)
Picard guns down two BORG on the holodeck with a machine gun. If that's
the case and the phasers were having no effect, why not replicate
machine guns and go clear the BORG out.
Cochran is a drunk? OK, fine I can deal with that, but when he launches
his ship in the middle of a shanty town it very conveniently leaves
everything intact. UM, SORRY, BUT THIS WOULD HAVE BURNED DOWN OR BLOWN
OVER EVERY SURROUNDING BUILDING IN THE AREA, have you ever seen how far
you have to be back to watch the space shuttle go up? About a mile!
The 90's has been the biggest letdown decade for movies. So many
promises of greatness, and so many dismal products. This is no
exception! SEND BERMAN AND PARAMOUNT A MESSAGE, AND DON'T SEE THIS
MOVIE. LET THEM KNOW THAT AS AN AUDIENCE WE EXPECT QUALITY!!!!
It's a sad statement when I know for a fact that I have paid nothing to
watch several episodes on television and been far more impressed and
entertained. I know they have the means to produce a quality product
that will gain the respect of the fans, but they choose to go for the
Quick BUCK and shaft all of us who have waited two years to see what has
become of our favorite Captain and Crew.
