Question on T-Mo Rocket

Used to use T-Mo but moved where I can’t get reception.  I do have a pay as you go T-Mo phone - Lumia 521 smart-phone that I use with wi-fi – love it and it only costs $10 a year!   My question is this.  I want to buy a T-Mobile Rocket to connect to my laptop for 4G data.  I checked T-Mo (they wanted like $72 for it) and checked eBay and Amazon – very different prices and much cheaper.  It appears there are different versions.  Is there anyone out there reading this newsgroup that has used the Rocket for 4G data?  I really just want to use it on a cruise so I can check email etc. thus I only want to get prepaid data for a week.  I talked to a rep and it appears I can only use it in Puerto Rico – not St Kitts or St. Maarten or Labadee let alone on the ship.   I can’t get a global data (or whatever it is called) for my Lumia because you have to have a monthly plan.  Any input from anyone I haven’t confused would be greatly appreciated!  Bon Voyage!  DonnaB
