My built in microphone array doesn`t respond in apps. I believe this is not based on a Hardware issue as i get a response in the windows sound settings (the soundbar rises when I speak). But when I go to other apps (f ex zoom) there is no response. I believe this is related to either a driver issue or a window setting. I belive the driver for the microphone array is up-to-date (microsoft 10.0.18362.1) as there is no prompt to update it when I scan for updates.
If the microphone operates on battery power, make sure the batteries are correctly seated and are functional. If the microphone operates on external power, make sure that all the power connections are secure and the power cord is connected to a power source.
If the microphone functions correctly when connected to the other device, a driver or computer recognition issue might be causing the problem. Continue to the next step to check for an update to the audio driver.
I recently updated my Adrenalin into 23.11.1 version and since this update my microphone is not detected in any app. Is not possible anymore for me to do somes vocals because my friends can't ear me. My mic driver is gone, I checked device manager but no mic driver is listed in audio inputs and outputs
For anyone facing the issues with missing microphone array and system volume not having effect (sound at 100% loudness) the device at fault is AMD Audio CoProcessor and an incorrect driver version applied to it after installing 23.11.1
No need to download any driver from doggy sources. The driver is already in your system, it just got replaced with another version by the installer.
Uninstall the driver in safe mode.
To enter Safe Mode in Windows 10 and 11 hold the "shift" key on the keyboard, when clicking on "reboot" at shutdown (see details here)
see my reply to CodySlay s message for a detailed instruction of how to re-install the driver then
Lol I contacted both Microsoft and HP Support and they told me to factory reset, I almost cried lmao. Thanks for this, you're a lifesaver. But the problem is, whenever I try to install the latest driver I get a blue screen? It shows error code system_thread_exception_not_handled. What should I do? Please help.
I have a Razer Blade 14. For ages, I've had some "Radeon Software" provided by Razer that wouldn't launch, complained about not being the right version for my hardware. I finally got around to uninstalling that version and grabbing the installer from AMD's site. "Radeon Software" now launches correctly, but I went to make a video call and the mic wasn't hooked up. The device was listed but trying to use it for anything came up as "unavailable". I followed your instructions and switched both AMD Audio CoProcessor and "AMD Audio Device" (as CodySlay suggested) to the newest available version, then rebooted. Mic works just like before.
Hello! I have a Razer Blade 14 (2021) as well and am experiencing the exact same issue. It somehow fixed itself a while ago, but now my microphone does not work again, which I find really frustrating. I followed both the instructions from @CodeSlay as well as @KasperX, but with no success. I'm wondering if I did something wrong, so some help would be much appreciated!
Just as a data point, until the day my mic broke I was using whatever was provided by Razer's own updater, or Windows Update, I never went out to AMD and specifically grabbed a standalone driver package. Unfortunately, Razer doesn't really hand out a package of "stock" drivers on their website, at least that I've been able to find. So I'm not sure exactly what driver Advik would be looking for to roll back to, at least if they were in a similar situation.
The device manager no longer shows the old driver (2.89.0.61) and when looking at the driver details in the AMD software (Settings > System > Hardware and drivers > Software and driver details), it says "Not available" for the AMD Audio driver version for some reason.
The link was leading to the release notes of the driver I downloaded, I have no idea what broke it. But yeah, that's the site I got it from.
Weirdly enough, my microphone is working again since Tuesday, I am still not sure what exactly fixed it though or why it wasn't working right after installing the old driver. Also, the device and vendor IDs are the same as in the screenshot above. Thanks a lot for your help!
The other option to 'Browse my computer for drivers' has a 'Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer' and when that is selected reverts to 'Select the manufacturer and model of your hardware device and then click Next. If you have a disk that contains the driver you want to install, click Have Disk.
First: Go to Settings. After this go to sound and you will see ADVANCED, click on all sound devices, click on your microphone and you will see GENERAL click on Allow and youre ready! This will help you, because if its not showing on the device manager youre allowing the driver with this option!
In Device Manager when looking at AMD Audio CoProcessor Properties under Events I get Device not started (amdacpbus) the date is for today when I tried to solve the low microphone volume. I've had this problem and Windows 11 doesn't seem to have a level meter when testing, I just get 3% of volume or something. I've tried the different methods on other community forums with no results. I do see that when I look into the drivers the date I try to fix the issue or change settings most or all say Device not started. Is this driver specific or reverts back to reinstalling drivers. Some drivers are Microsoft or AMD.
A USB audio microphone array must describe itself to the system to which it is connected. This means that the parameters that are required to describe the array must be embedded in the array device itself. Array geometry information is retrieved from the device by using a GET_MEM request.
Information about USB audio device geometry must be provided in a standard format. As such, USB microphone arrays that are intended to work with the Windows Vista USB audio class driver must provide a descriptor that uses the information format that is defined in the following table.
For a detailed example about how to use this information format in a descriptor for a 4-element microphone array, see Appendix A of the How to Build and Use Microphone Arrays for Windows Vista white paper.
When you include a version number in the microphone array information, it allows the descriptor to be updated after the original specifications are implemented. The version number is a BCD value. For example, the current version (1.0) is represented as 0x0100.
I have recently got a new laptop with Windows 11. I can't get the built in microphone to work with Zoom. I am able to use the microphone with other programs and apps, so know it works. I have followed many troubleshooting suggestions online with no luck. Is there anything I can try? Thanks!
I'm having the same problem. I have a HP Laptop running Windows 11 and a built in microphone (Microphone array Intel Smart Sound Technology for Digital Microphones). I've had HP run diagnostics on the laptop and all tests run successfully. Other apps that use microphone work correctly. HP says the problem is with Zoom. I'm running the latest release of Zoom (5.10.1 ( 4420). Can someone suggest a solution?
Search B&O app in widows. Open the B&O app, select Noise Cancellation tab which is available on top of the widow and turn OFF this option "All noise removal applied to input device". both options must be off. I hope your problem is solved using this thing.
I followed the suggestion below to turn off enhanced sound. When I went to my setting the default was already turned off. So then I deleted my zoom desktop client and reinstalled it. Tested the microphone and it is now working! I am using a brand new HP Envy laptop with Windows 11.
I am having the same problem with my Samsung 360 laptop Windows 11. With so many of us having this problem with Zoom, I am extremely frustrated that Zoom hasn't solved this issue yet. I have to run Zoom on my older Apple tablet and log in as a guest in order to be able to hear others in the meeting properly. I really wish Zoom would fix this issue already.
I have similar problem. Built in mic is not working on Zoom in Window 11. I have reinstalled Zoom but did not solve problem. Requested support from HP. After several trials, HP technical support could not solve issue. Solution is to wait for update from Window 11, patches .
Start a meeting on Zoom. Click the arrow showing upside near by the mic (where you see "mute" - on the left side at the bottom), click the "Advanced" for configuration, select OFF Windows-Row on signal processing by windows audio device drivers.
After hours of struggling with this same problem, I ran across your suggestion and another on this thread. Yep - it was the Bang and Olufsen app suppressing the sound of my brass instruments - very covertly. Funny that Bang and Olufsen is printed plainly on my new HP laptop. Many thanks!!!
if you are using a laptop, where both the microphone and camera are built internally, which they most likely are, you can try to do all the actualizations and grant permissions separately for the camera as well because they operate in parallel. Good luck!
Turned off all enhancements for all devices on the HP/Bang & Olufsen app for both recordint and playback, also on Windows Sound Settings turned off enhancements, priority access and several other suggestions on different how-to's but still, Zoom says there is something wrong with my mic and please select a different device.
In my case, I needed to get the display working on a laptop equipped with Thunderbolt 4, so I just plugged the display into my Thunderbolt 4 port and almost everything worked immediately: the display, speakers, microphone array, webcam, and laptop charging. Great! This should be your experience with Thunderbolt 3 and USB4-equipped laptops as well.
