t-marbouta invites you to the premiere of two video excerpts from a documentary project which seeks to compare Indian reservations in the United States and Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon, Jordan, and the West Bank:

>> More about the project by the filmmakers: "The videos we will screen showcase the Oglala Lakota's Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota, and the Mohawk's Akwesasne territory which straddles the borders of New York, Ontario, and Quebec. We met with members of the American Indian Movement, the Mohawk Warrior Society, and young warriors struggling to defend their territorial and cultural sovereignty.
The project looks at the lived experience of the reservation and refugee camp as exceptional spaces within the logic of the modern nation state. Within these locations, what are the contemporary struggles for autonomy?"
>> The fimmakers: - Matt Peterson is a filmmaker, curator, and writer from New York. He produced a film on the Tunisian insurrection called Scenes from a Revolt Sustained, and is now working on a project about Istanbul and Kurdish autonomy. - Malek Rasamny is a researcher, film programmer, and critic based in New York and Beirut. He was a member of Red Channels, Ground Floor Collective, and LERFE, and has organized events with the Maysles Documentary Center, the Brecht Forum, and Afikra.
>> More during the event: Photographs by the Mexican photographer Fernanda Paredes will be displayed. The photographs present her visit to reservation camps of native in Mexico.
