Rumination... how about a mode of operation, "tag mode", chosen during
setup, where not all posts sync, only those containing the text
"#syyncc"? Alternatively, because Syyncc deals with comments, maybe
you need to make a specially formatted comment (eg: #syyncc fb) to
sync a post, that comment itself being ignored for syncing purposes?

In "tag mode", all comments would still be synced, of course. I'm
thinking that this should be true as far as possible in all
circumstances for syyncc; comments always move, because it's about
cross network conversations.

I think tagging posts would be an excellent way to ensure the things I want are going across. I actually thought about this last night, but was afraid it seemed to Twitter-y. Lately, I've been posting things on Buzz that I don't care to share with my FB friends, so I go to FB and wait for the post to appear, only to delete it. (I know I could just disable Syyncc, but that seems like even more effort lol)

I think tag mode would solve this issue for me :)

I think that is a good idea.

I have, on a couple occasions, posted something on buzz and deleted
the synced post on Facebook because the people over there would not be
interested in reading it.

The hash tag would probably work best in the post itself. Seems pretty
common practice for people to do that, ever since twitter starting
using them.

What I could do is have two modes, auto and approval.

In auto, everything would sync, unless you include #nosync

In approval, nothing would sync, unless you include #sync

And you just choose the mode that's appropriate for you.

That sounds good - I know I personally would use auto mode. How would this interact with the personal stream vs. page stream choice discussed in the other thread? I would only use personal stream, auto posting, but I suspect it would be handy for users who want page stream to be able to override it at an individual item level. Maybe have three tags, #nosync, #sync-stream, and #sync-fan, plus have a choice for which of those is the default?

#sync-stream feels too long, but I can't think of a shorter way to describe it that isn't confusing.

Just a thought,
Kevin
