The Cogan Lab (PI: Gregory Cogan) at Duke University is seeking a research assistant/lab manager to start in September 2017.

 

Research in the lab focuses on using high density/high channel count recording arrays (high density ECoG - up to 1000 channels, ~1-2 mm spacing - in collaboration with the Viventi Lab) to understand speech, language, and cognition using data from functional surgery patients (e.g. epilepsy).  We also use EEG, and fMRI as well as MEG (off-site), to help support the research program.

 

Responsibilities include subject recruitment, data collection, data management and analysis, helping to write papers for publication, general administrivia.

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about a career in science/medicine/engineering, self-motivated, independent, creative, and have interests in speech/language, and/or cognitive/systems neuroscience. They will also have great interpersonal skills and a strong willingness to learn.


Candidates should have an undergraduate degree in a related field (e.g. Neuroscience, Psychology, Engineering, Biology, etc.), and experience with programming in either Matlab or Python.


Duke University is an excellent and highly interdisciplinary place for research.  Collaborators span multiple departments/institutes including the Duke Institute for Brain Sciences, the Center for Cognitive Neuroscience, Psychology and Neuroscience, Neurology, and Biomedical Engineering.
