The Battaglia lab at the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition, and Behaviour, Radboud University Nijmegen is looking for one talented and motivated fellow to fill a position (at the PhD or postdoctoral level) on a new research line, funded by an ERC Advanced Grant for new research lines focusing on unraveling the codes for memory in the hippocampus and the neocortex. The lab has world-class expertise in multiple methods
(ensemble electrophysiology, imaging, behavior) and computational neuroscience, and a friendly, collaborative attitude. We have a strong network of international collaborations. Information on the lab may be found at https://www.ru.nl/english/people/battaglia-f/ and http://neuronetmem.org
The research project will have an experimental profile concentrating on two-photon imaging of the default mode network during memory consolidation processes, also in combination with electrophysiological analysis of deeper structure. Previous experience with calcium imaging techniques will be a strong plus.
Besides the required backgrounds, the ideal candidate will have a strong motivation to pursue a career in research, is able to work independently, is a good team worker, and is capable of supervising more junior students. Positions can be filled at the postdoctoral or PhD student level depending on the best available candidate.
The Donders Institute is one of the large concentrations of neuroscience research in the Netherlands and in Europe, with a number of new groups working with modern neural ensemble approaches.
Interested candidates should send a CV, a summary of previous research (2 pages max) and a statement of interest (1 page max), as well as two names of potential referees to Francesco Battaglia f.bat...@science.ru.nl . Candidates applying by December 15th will be given full consideration. Requests for information or informal inquiries are welcome at the same email address.
