Client has a complex software and they use Windows Servics WCF extensive. Also us REST interfaces (similar to SOAP).
DOS Command Level and working from DOS prompt is a also key. There is also a significant amount of image processing on their software.
Software Engineer
Application/Software Developer The ideal candidate will assume an active role on an application development team that supports the company's goal of providing a low cost, easy to use Kiosk product for capturing and printing user content from a variety of input sources. Team members are involved from initial business analysis and design, through implementation and support. Team members will work from specifications to design and develop or modify complex application software in a modern object oriented environment as identified and documented by the project team
Roles and Responsibilities:
. Design, coding, benchmark testing, debugging and documentation of programs.
. Clearly and actively communicate status of work and projects to stakeholders as needed.
. Work closely with senior developers to successfully anticipate, identify and resolve issues/concerns internally.
. Diagnose and resolve software defects and problems.
. Meets time requirements for assignments, with minimal reminders.
. Provide work breakdown using standardized estimation techniques.
. Participate in work product reviews (e.g. code design)
Minimum skill requirements:
. Required Skills/Knowledge:
o Successful candidate must be familiar with distributed computing environment, modern computer software architectures and advanced software practices.
o Ability to understand and adhere to established software architecture and programming conventions
o Candidate must be a highly motivated self-starter who can work effectively in a dynamic environment where goals and specifications are constantly changing.
o Understanding of Object Oriented Application architecture and programming.
o Working knowledge of C++ and C# or Java.
o Work independently or as part of a larger team.
o Familiarity with all phases of the software development life cycle (analysis, design, development, testing, defect tracking/resolution, deployment), including Agile methodology.
o Bachelor 's in Computer Science or related field
. Desired Skills/Knowledge:
o Working knowledge of Microsoft's Visual Studio .NET, including Windows Forms based graphical user interface.
o WCF, WPF, HTTP/HTTPS, REST or web develop knowledge.
o Good understanding of database systems using SQL, SQLExpress or MySQL a plus.
o Familiarity with XML.
o Sound knowledge and experience in modular programming methodologies.
o Strong application design skills.
o Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
I spoke with the Kodak manager today. They are looking for someone with 8+ years of experience more of a software engineer than a pure developer. They need someone that can drill down and understand plus drive the solution to a problem. NOT someone that is going to develop code from detailed specs. Candidate should be able to take requirements and run with them. Must come up with a design and the program solutions to requirements. Looking for somebody to engage on a constant basis.
