Hi all,

My company is making an initiative to purchase for me a license for Sparx Enterprise Architect and maybe to use it for modeling existing systems (and not just to draw pretty pictures…). Maybe I had something to do with this.

Anybody know of a tutorial on Sparx Enterprise Architect that focuses on modeling with SysML?

And more specifically, I am interested in IBD diagrams (internal block diagrams) and activity diagrams. And even more specifically, in the areas of real-time (mission-critical) systems.

I did a number of searches and for some reason didn't come up with anything, although i would have thought that there should be plenty out there.

Thanks in advance.

Avraham

https://www.sparxsystems.com/resources/libraries/index.html Has some fairly good starting information for the SysML modeling.

Once you are registered, you will have access to much more information there.

You may find SysML Distilled: A Brief Guide to the Systems Modeling Language by Lenny Delligatti

To be a good starting reference.

A Practical Guide to SysML: The Systems Modeling Language by Sanford Friedenthal

Is a good reference also.

Hi Avi

I’m working with EA for years.

I have a methodology for full product/system lifecycle development with emphasis on SysM + my own DSLs based on UML & SysML.  The methodology is documented.

If you like – communicate directly.

Good luck with EA

Eran

Hi,

You can also open the EA Example project (from the Start > Help menu), or available via the EAExample.eap in EA installation file.

You will find examples in the Systems Engineering model.

Regards,
Guillaume

Hi Mark,
Thank you for the response.
I am looking for the practical aspect of working with EA for SysML, namely workflows, e.g., building a BDD and then IBDs, and the like. Thanks for the reference to sparx libraries.

Hi Eran,

Methodology. yes - that's it. That's what I was looking for. Another term for that, but in a different way, would be "procedures".

So far I have been trying out my own "getting started" approaches, and making some progress.

Thank you very much.

i will get in touch with you a bit later.

This content is very good. This is a great help. Great thanks for this.
Afterwards, I noticed it seems that the content is also part of the EA Help feature.

>> You may find SysML Distilled: A Brief Guide to the Systems Modeling Language by Lenny Delligatti
I have been working through it for the last year or so.

>> A Practical Guide to SysML: The Systems Modeling Language by Sanford Friedenthal
I refer to this every now and again.

Great thanks, Mark.
