أفاميا من أجمل المواقع الأثرية في سورية تتوضع أفاميا على هضبة تشرف على سهل الغاب تبعد عن حماه60كم إلى الشمال الغربي وعن حلب 130كم وعن اللاذقية 125كم عن طريق جسرالشغور :تعتبرأفاميا صورة مثلى لامتزاج الحضارة اليونانية في الحضارة السورية والتي تعد في مقدمة المدن الأثرية في سورية *سميت أفانيا بهذا الاسم في عهد الملك سلوقس نيكاتور بين عامي 301/299قبل الميلاد باسم زوجته الفارسية أبأمي* ثم تولى أعمارها على مر السنين حتى بلغ عدد سكانها في السنة السادسة للميلاد نصف مليون نسمة *خضعت أفاميا للرومان بعد فتح سوريا عام64ق.م*ومن ثم للبيزنطيين وفتحت عام 638على يد المسلمين*ومن أشهر معالمها *شارع الأعمدة :الذي يبلغ طوله 1850م وعرضه 37.5م ويبلغ عدد أعمدته 1350عمود*2*السور:يبلغ طوله حوالي 7كم يتخلله مئة برج *3*قلعة المضيق:هي حصن أفاميا قطرها 250م. *4*خان قلعة المضيق<متحف أفاميا حديثا>يعود تاريخ بناؤه للعهد العثماني عام 1530م يقع في أسفل الوادي المجاور للقلعة تبلغ مساحته 7000متر مربع وقد تم تحويله 1982 إلى متحف وأصبح يضم أروع لوحات الفسيفساء المكتشفة في أفاميا والقرى المجاورة لها< لوحة سقراط- لوحة الحوريات- لوحة الأمازونيات-وغيرهن من ألوحات الرائعات> إضافة إلى الجامع القديم و المسرح الروماني وغيرها من المعالم الأثرية. ملاحظة:أتمنى من جميع المشتركين والمطلعين على الموقع وذوي الاهتمامات السياحية والأثرية زيارة هذه المدينة الرائعة لأن الشرح لا يغني عن المشاهدة وشكرا.
