Feb 15 Syracuse sing!

Hello Syracuse area shape note singers,

Let's get back together for singing! 

Sunday, February 15, 2026
2:00-4:00pm
May Memorial UU Society 
3800 E. Genesee, Syracuse, NY
note: We will be singing in the sanctuary where services are held as opposed to the social hall where we sang previously. When you enter the main doors of the building, look RIGHT to find the sanctuary

Tune book will be the 1991 Sacred Harp. (a new edition has come out, but let's start with this one while we get back on our feet). I I will bring some loaner books and give an introductory lesson if there are new folks, 

Attending is FREE, as the folks at May Memorial are so kind as to let us use their facility without paying a rental fee. Many many thanks to Linda Wobus and Peter Coleman who have taken leadership over securing and scheduling our venue going forward.

Hello Rachel,

I'm glad to see that you are starting Syracuse Shape Note up again.  (Our Utica area Group has been on hiatus for several months.)  I do hope you have a good turn-out for your Sing, even though it is Dance Flurry Weekend.   And, that morning, at Flurry, is a special Memorial Gospel Sing for Peter Amidon, one of the biggest promotors of Shape Note at several different Folk Festivals.  

Please continue to keep me on your Syracuse Shape Note List, as I hope to make one of them!!

A reminder about our upcoming sing this weekend! See below for details. 

One small change: The social hall became available for us, so we will be able to sing there! We won’t be switching to the sanctuary this time around.

Last I knew we were meeting at may memorial. Has that changed? I donated my car to PBS in 2017 so I'm definitely out of the loop. Vif it's still happening somewhere in syracuse and I could get a ride there I'd definitely go.
