Hi Syracuse Sacred Harp group,

I don't know if this email is still active but does the Syracuse Sacred Harp group sing together anymore? I stumbled upon shape note years ago with a friend when I lived in Georgia one summer in college and would love to join a weekly sing!

Hello Hannah,

I also have not heard anything about Syracuse.

Singing has been happening for many months, in both Utica & Ithaca.  I'm including their Contact's emails in the "CC" so they can reach out to you.  I've also included mine in case there's new info about Syracuse out there.  (I believe Rochester also might be Singing.)

Perhaps with these Singers inquiries, Syracuse can get started up again?  If no one can lead it - how about asking Barb in Utica or Ginny/Ben in Ithaca to help get it going again?  (Barb did so at the beginning of Syracuse starting one.)

The other issue, is that both Utica & Ithaca require every Singer attending to be vaccinated for Covid, even if singing outside.

Hi,

  We are singing about two evenings a week in Ithaca, with fully vaccinated singers (masks optional outdoors; requested if indoors).  Some of us work with vulnerable populations, and are not able to risk their health, which is one reason why we do require vaccination (even if singing outside) at this time.

Yes, let's go ahead and restart. There have been some delays in our venue re-opening, and I recently recovered from COVID myself, plus I bought a house and moved (still in Syracuse), so restarting is coming around on my priority list now. :)

I know that outdoor space has been difficult to arrange in the past where there was adequate parking and so that we have access to bathrooms and such. Let me see what we can do. Renting pavilions costs a lot for our little group to pass the hat. If anyone would like to partner with me to make arrangements for venues, please contact me privately. fox.von.s...@gmail.com

We can now resume singing at May Memorial indoors. I've submitted a few dates and will let folks know about required Covid protocols soon.
