Baggage : Requirements ~ TIPS :)

hiya :)....This write up is about the baggage , We myt look into the types of baggage, size of the baggage, brands and models available in the baggage section and best deals too :)

 

TYPES OF BAGGAGE : 

As we know there are two aggages that need to be considered :

"CHECK-in" baggage (suitcases and other luggage)

"CABIN"  baggage 

 

SIZE OF BAGGAGE :

"CHECK-in" baggage -  L = 77 cms ,| B = 48 cms, | H = 32cms                                                                                 = totally added 158 cms or 62 inches

"CABIN"  baggage  -  L = 55 cms ,| B = 30 cms, | H = 32cms                                                                                  =  totally added 115 cms

 

Note1 : The size that I have quoted here applies for a suitcase (CHECK-in baggage) of 30 kgs capacity where you need to pack only upto 23kgs......which means the suitcase will be a bit free on top and this needs to be lyk this because while throwing your suitcase onto the conveyor belt if "its tightly packet" it myt crack(hard shell case) or zip myt tear (soft case).   

 

Note2 : For a cabin baggage (hand luggage) : get something in the form of laptop bag (double purpose), where you can stuff the max. But keep in mind choose a size that will fit into the flight cabin( abv ur flight seat). The shop keeper can give you the best advice :) since each bag is of a different shape u can really not measure it up to the above mentioned size.

 

BRANDS & MODELS :

Coming to the brands and models - I suggest that you get these from the factory outlets so that u get them at a cheaper rate :) . I have listed the models in the order : of decreasing price tag. 

 

1. Samsonite (Costliest : And is now in offer) - baggages only with 4 wheels)

2. American Tourister ( Same brand as samsonite but of low price - since the material is thin) - 4 wheels and 2 wheels acc to the price & model

3. VIP - Most of them are 2 wheel baggages except for one or two. Lot of sub-brands in VIP  like Note : The order is in decreasing price tag & quality

      VIP  PREMIUM & 4 wheeled- the topend model - best - 1st in quality

      VIP POPULAR (a.k.a SKYBAGS) -fabric is better than VIP alpha - 2nd after premium - awesm

      VIP ALPHA - oh baby haven't u seen the ad in the TV ;) ...very affordable - 3rd 

 4. Aristocrat ( fabric is thin - one time use i wud say)

Other XYZ makes - be careful about the size

 

Dont get a very hard case ( as it myt crack sometimes and some cannot be locked using TSA locks) ,so its better that you go soft suitcases itself.

 

Also buy TSA locks in case u dont have 1 affixed to your suitcase.  TSA locks from American tourister are cheaper than that of samsonite. You might find Samsonite costly because of it being International, high quality fabric, and 4 wheels which makes you suitcase a classic trolley.

 

I personally recommend having one suitcase in Samsonite which is under offer ( this one you myt want to  use when you are coming back to India -  as it comes with International warranty) and the other one in VIP (any submodel). So that your cuitcases are helpful and economic too.

 

Another reason for choosing a brand case is that they dont open ajar when being roughly handled, again its your luck, you myt get a brandless suitcase which myt come safe to the University without damage (cant predict)  :) BUT Y take risk ? better go for a one with warranty :)

 

If any of you are flying with JET, plz dun 4get to get the "students kit " offered by it, where you will find some offer coupons for buying samsonite and American tourister suitcases and accessories.
