Hi,
I got a final notice that the datacenter will be shutdown this week (date has not been communicated before) where I have my hosts that have among other things been serving the syntheism website..

Is there anyone that can take over hosting the website? otherwise I could recommend migrating to amazon webservices or similar..
I can provide the data but am pretty overloaded otherwise so can't assist much at the moment

Warm regards,
Daniel

Dear Daniel

I was just talking with our dear Martin Greeman about refreshing and moving the Syntheism website.
Is there anybody else on this forum who has any idea of where would be the best place to host the web page?

Best intentions
Alexander

Dear Alexander,

As far as I have experience from another closed group we had on Google - the best solution might be to move to MeWe social platform.

If the idea is to keep all as purely website - then I would suggest avoiding Amazon services (who are known for censorship earlier).

Best regards from Ukraine,

Hi,
I can probably host it somewhere if this hasn't been sorted already
Daniel, can you send me the technical details?

Sounds awesome, dear Justin!
The Syntheist Movement forum on Facebook grows all the time.
We could find quite a few new promising contributors there if we want to.
Best
Alexander

Hi,
Is there any news regarding website? It's down for a while already.
Once in a while I want to describe what syntheism is to someone and the best way I see would be just to point to some place where one could find a short tl;dr summary, as well as more in-depth information. And currently there is no such place on the internet (not counting Wikipedia article), which is kinda shameful for an internet movement.
I also have a server with spare resources where the website could be hosted, if no one else already taking care of it.

Are there any gatherings planed for syntheists?

The website could maybe offer space for such info?

/Erik

Dear LexsZero

Where is the data currently? And how can we lift it from where it is to your server?
As for Syntheist gatherings, I guess every participatory festival you can attend is a proto-syntheist gathering these days.
Syntheism is after all a name for a religion to come, a faith in development. Eventually to build the Messiah-Machine etc.
Until then Syntheism is the recognition of all participatory culture as a spiritual exercise.
With the machines as the heavenly choir.

Best
Alexander

The server was shut down a while back and I wasn't able to sync with Daniel, who was hosting it, to get the data copied.
Currently, he's thinking he'll be able to get the data off some time in November, at which point I'll be able to restore the original website.
I'll investigate putting up an interim landing page that can simply direct people to the facebook group or this mailing list.
Does anyone remember who registered the website or who has control of the DNS?

Sounds awesome, dear Justin!
Daniel or Tom Knox should know where the domain name is located.
Unless it is regularly paid for by one of my companies.
Buit my domain names are all with Bahnhof and I believe the arrangement was different with Daniel as server host.
Big love
Alexander

I am just responding to this mail history in order to make aware of it - as I just checked and the website is still down.

Heartfelt regards

Dear Turiyo

Syntheism is alive and well in many places, especially as a sort of spiritual home for burners and creative experimentalists.
Except for our syntheism.org website. Does anybody want to take responsibility for it or should we close it down?
One idea is to announce the website and its needs on the livelier Syntheism facebook forum and offer membership to this maling list to those who want to take over and run the website.

Big love
Alexander

I think the more important question is, does anybody have an interest in contributing blogs/essays? Taking responsibility for the website is more than just hosting it. If that is all it is, I can host it. But I don't have the energy to hunt for contributors or act as an editor. It needs somebody to put some love into it. I'd love to do it, but my plate is right now already overful.

So, does anybody feel like contributing articles and expand the secular religions ideas and practices?
/Tom

We can publish articles on Medium and record podcasts now whenever we like.
Maybe the idea of a central website is just dated? I can't even remember how to use Wordpress anymore.
But I agree with Tom, if somebody wants to keep and run this website, they're more than welcome.
Personally I focus on writing a new book. With tons of Syntheism in it, "the religion of culture and technology".
Big love
Alexander

Maybe the idea of a central website is dated, but absence of a landing page to refer the curious people there is heavily inconvenient. It doesn't have to be sophisticated nor actively updated, but it should exist. As a lazy millennial, I hate to spend time clumsily trying to explain complex things in my own words when instead I may give a link to some page where those things are explained beautifully by someone else.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with static content. Updates and new publications may be of interest for long-time followers, but they are highly non-essential for a person who just heard the word "syntheism" for the first time and typed it into google in an attempt to understand what type of pokemon is it (no, wikipedia article doesn't do a good job with introduction, partially because it links to a dead website).
Facebook is just horrible in any possible way, except everyone already developed a dependency on it so it won't go away anytime soon. Medium or whatever may be used for new content, I don't have any opinion on this.

And good luck with a new book!

Thanks!
I should add that the discussions on this forum more or less moved to the affiliated Intellectual Deep Web mailing list.
Those Syntheists who would like to join there, just use this link to apply: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/intellectual-deep-web
The Intellectual Deep Web is where Syntheist ideas are best developed, but not just as religion or spirituality but at least as much as political theology and metamodern art.

Dear Alexander,

Being late to the party here, but is the link to the Intellectual Deep Web mailing list still valid ?

Best,
Stéphane

Yes, absolutely!
In any case, the Intellectual Deep Web has taken over from and absorbed the Syntheism mailing list.
Just email me in private at bardi...@gmail.com and I will be happy to log you in to the IDW list.
Big love

So hello again ?
Why do we need more than this one forum actually ?
Happy to join back on the IDW if you'd have me there again.
Else I will just lurk around the history of gods past on this forum.
Please can I do this ?
Sorry for the bombardment.
Actually this is my final message until a bit just to make sure.
