Hi guys!
I'm writing to you because we are a few people (mainly around Sweden but also some international peeps) who are very much into the idea of getting a post-atheist monastery off the ground in Östergötland at Stora Kinäs Gård!
I have heard rumours that there are other monastery plans floating around, although I do not know how far along they are? It would be great to learn about that, in order to find out if we can forge - which the good Alexander pointed out - some kind of network between various monastery/retreat-nodes. That would be absolutely fantastic!
I am happy to tell you more about the project here if you have any questions! But there is also a separate mailinglist set up explicitly for the monastery. Just reach out to me if you want to join that. However. The people on that mailing list is not only discussing possible content or discussing what may be good or bad ideas. They are also people that actually wants to (in some capacity or other) be hands on and concretely co-create the thing (I'm talking content, not building actual structures - they are already in place).
That is another thing here as well, I have seen discussions pop-up about interesting properties that could be developed into something like a monastery if we somehow manage to crowdfund it (preferrably within two weeks before the property is taken down from Hemnet). In this case, the place is there, it's already owned (by me). There is one house for living which is currently let out to tenants. Then there are two more buildings, an old grain storage building and a barn, which on one side could become very cathedral like in a wooden faluröd manner. So. Are you up for this? Do you want to create a monastery with me and some other really good guys and inspiring people? Among us are people who have experience in building, in meditation, tantra, theology, yoga, techno-dj:s, philosophy, being hands on ... you name it!
If you are not sure exactly how you would fit in, but you have a fuzzy sense that you probably would like to check out the whole thing ... then we're throwing a microburn weekend after midsummer (so 29th of June - 2nd of July). Cheap early bird tickets are still available (just 200 sek) until 22nd of May (then the price goes up to the incredibly steep 290 sek)! So come to this beautifully located farm, burn with us, and then see if this is a place you would like to fill with some kind of meaningful, spiritual, genuine content that you feel would fit and be part of the process!
