Hi Devin,

Did you ever get a chance to look further at adding this functionality
to synthclone as we discussed here:

I've been thinking about it on and off ever since you mentioned it.
The solution I've been considering involves changing the user
interface of `synthclone`.

Basically, the new interface would be a table of sorts, with columns
for inbound parameters (parameters mapped to the device you want to
sample) on the left, and columns for outbound parameters (parameters
mapped to the format you're saving in) on the right. The inbound
parameters would include columns for notes and velocities to start
with, and would allow adding columns for control change ids. The
inbound parameters may possibly be extended with columns for
polyphonic aftertouch, channel pressure, and pitch wheel messages.
The outbound parameters would be format-dependent, but would be
similar to the inbound parameters.

The old interface would still exist as a wizard of sorts that would
populate the new interface automatically in a basic fashion.

I don't know when I'll have time to implement this idea, but I would
like to brainstorm about it for the time being. Please let me know
what you think.

More than happy to brainstorm with you! Yeah a table type interface
sounds like the only way to go. I never thought about a wizard but it
really allows to have the best of both worlds as well as demonstrating
to the user how to fill out the table so they can easily adjust
parameters after first setting via the wizard. Would be good also to
have some way to quickly audition the various parameters to listen and
see for instance does changing the cc value or pitch bend etc make any
difference to the sound. Otherwise to just end up with a bazillion
copies of the exact same sample ;). Dreaming here but it would be
super cool to compare samples to check for duplicates.

Can't write much (at a Primus concert on my Droid), but auditioning notes is a good idea!  I'll definitely include that when I develop the interface.

Thanks!
