I have situation that user who needs to run CR report is blocked from accessing database due to strict "need to absolutely know" rule enforcement for one of proprietary software. Person who needs to run CR report, don't need to know about code in Synergy CM. But, access to IBM Change will also give him access to IBM Synergy CM.

I am thinking to provide report via windows cron task from windows 7 machine.

Did anyone tried to run existing reports via cron task?

Hi,

I don’t understand why granting your user change permissions will give them access to the code.

But either way. The easiest way we have done this in the past is to allow our subcontractors some access to their CRs is to DCM out all CR’s tagged as External into a separate DB and then install a change instance for that DB and grant them access to that. We then sync the two DB’s every 10 mins so the contractor can provide input into the “real” system and vice versa.

That might provide an easy solution for you.

Will granting the report guy only “manager” access do the trick? They have no privs but should be able to run a report if it exists. ??

Since Synergy and Change runs on same database, it I grant access to Change, user can run Synergy client or commnad line and get access to code in Synergy CM.

Also, just granting "manager" role still allows user to read code associated with task which appears in CR.

Thanks!

Hi,

This is not 100% correct. If a user does not have developer or Build manager they can not start the client gui or CLI. Not 100% if a CR has an associated task if they can then get access that way. Also you can set ACL's up to prevent this from happening and this was an RFE implement in the 7 releases I believe.
