I'm posting this message here because of a chronic inability from
someone @ SyncMyCal to return my email.

I am a paid user, and I first reported my issue on 2/9/11 -- an
inability for SyncMyCal to publish to my Google Calendar. I was told
the issue was due to event name length, which hadn't stopped me
before. When I responded with that information, they fell silent and
began just responding with auto-emails (2/16 and 3/3). No response
after my 3/16 and 3/30 emails. I waited until now, and here I am.

So, if anyone is listening from SyncMyCal, can you please respond? My
ticket number is SKZ-207995. I understand you might not have fixed
the issue, but I find it ridiculous that I don't at least warrant a
response, especially since you give me no other means to communicate
besides email.

Regards,

MMc...

I bought the product. It never worked. They did answer a few queries. Then dropped me. Not a word since.

Feel ripped off.

I've seen too many of these posts to not make a reply. Over a year ago, I
purchased SyncMyCal only to find out that it has a major bug with repeating
events making it totally useless. I made numerous attempts to get someone
to address the problem, but all they did was try to tell me that it was my
problem. After I provided internal traces and simple test cases that proved
it was their problem, they stopped communicating with me. I even offered to
fix their bug if they would send me their source code. Still no
communication. From what I can tell, they will do the absolute minimum to
make you think that they are going to do something about your problem, and
then once it's too late to complain to your credit card company, they stop
communicating altogether. I had high hopes for the product, but I have
since abandoned it and my Windows Phone. Six months ago I bought an iPhone
and I am now a very happy camper. It work just fine with my dozen Google
calendars with no third party software required.

You should probably write off SyncMyCal.

2 years ago I submitted a trouble ticket for a bug with the sync for repeating events (Outlook to Google sync, event had a repeat with an end date and SyncMyCal changed end date to "never"). Got an initial response within a few days. I ran the test cases and suggestions and I posted the results back to my SyncMyCal trouble ticket (was still having the issue). Pinged them a few times via e-mail and the trouble ticket and finally heard back 10 months later via this Google Group with one more suggestion (one that I have tried in my own troubleshooting) and a statement that SyncMyCal couldn't replicate the problem. Then 1 month later (11 months from initial submission) SyncMyCal replied to my trouble ticket that they had replicated the problem and " We have started working on your problem and we would come up with the solution very soon, however it may take some time to figure out few things."

I had long since given up on SyncMyCal, so I never did check to see if they were able to fix the problem - with nearly a year before they even acknowledged the problem made me think it was a bad solution to try to work with.

Since I had some special (but hardly unique) requirements with Outlook categories and reminders, the out of the box Google and iPhone calendar sync capabilities didn't fill my needs. I still needed to find a sync solution and found two excellent apps: gSyncIt (http://www.daveswebsite.com/software/gsync/) and iCal4OL (http://ical.gutentag.ch/). For various reasons, I ended up using both programs. iCal4OL is very powerful and flexible (but there are so many options that it takes some work in getting it set up properly). I use that on my very locked down work machine because Roland (the developer) was awesome and able to provide a setup program version that didn't require admin rights to install. I use gSyncIt on my home PC - it's worked great and they have been regularly rolling out new updates.

Thanks everyone for your replies, which confirm that my customer
service experience wasn't the only one. I also appreciate the
recommendations for alternatives, which I may check out.

Dear Matthew McGarity

I am extremely sorry for the exception, which you are facing with SyncMyCal
and deeply regret the inconvenience caused to you.

The error that you are facing normally appears when Proxy setting is not
proper. You need to set the proxy connection setting in SyncMyCal correctly.

Please go to SyncMyCal >> Setting >> Advanced >> Connection > please enter
the Host and Port details along with the authentication details. Please save
the settings and now sync.
Please let me know if I can be of any assistance to you.

Warm Regards,
Harsh

Harsh:

It's disappointing that I, and several other customers, had to kvetch
in an online forum to get a response. But I do appreciate you finally
replying.

It can't be an issue with my proxy server. I know this because the
sync works fine when I go against a normal Google Calendar account,
but it fails when I am going against a Google *Apps* Calendar account,
both while connected to the same network. I'll need an alternate
solution.

Thanks!

MMc...

Utterly poor - i too like so many it seems have fallen into this trap. I purchased SyncMyCal almost 2 weeks ago, an despite my best efforts i can't get the damn thing to  sync with my gmail (google apps) calendar.

I've contacted support a dozens times, but just silence...diddly squat...how they can get away with taking your money without even offering any form of support or CS is beyond me?

If any anyone is fortunate to be reading this before you take the plunge, take stock and heed the advice offered here - BUYER BEWARE!
